He Called My Sugar Allergy Jealousy—So I Made Him My Ex Chapter 02

I clutched my stomach, writhing on the bathroom floor.

The severe allergic reaction had thrown my unborn baby into a frenzy. Every kick sent a fresh wave of pain through every nerve in my body.

Within seconds, I was drenched in sweat, like I’d been dunked in water.

With what little strength I had left, I managed to call 911.

I barely got out my address before I passed out.

I didn’t know how long I was out before I heard knocking at the door.

“Is anyone home?”

Tears of relief filled my eyes.

My baby and I were going to make it!

I forced myself to pound on the door.

“I’m in the bathroom! Help! Please!”

But even after I beat my hands bloody against the door, all I could hear were faint voices outside.

“Nobody’s home. Why would someone call 911? What a waste of resources.”

That’s when I realized my throat was so swollen they couldn’t hear me.

I looked around, desperate to find something that would make enough noise.

There was a vase on the sink.

I loved buying flowers, but Patricia said they took up too much space, so she tossed the vase in the bathroom to mask the smell.

Never thought that old vase would end up saving my life.

I dragged myself toward it and finally grabbed it.

Just then, Derek came back for no apparent reason.

“What are you doing outside my door? Sneaking around like that—I’ll call the cops for trespassing.”

My heart skipped a beat.

What was he doing?

“We got a call about a severe allergic reaction. Possible miscarriage, so we came right over.”

I slammed the vase against the floor.

The voices outside fell silent for a moment.

Then I heard Derek.

“You’ve got the wrong place. My wife isn’t pregnant.”

“And if you damage my door, you’re paying for it.”

The paramedics’ voices slowly faded away.

Footsteps sounded outside again. Derek walked in.

The moment he saw me, he snatched my phone and smashed it against the floor.

“Clara, you actually called 911 just to get me to come home. You trying to make our whole family a laughingstock?”

“Look at that makeup. You look like a damn mess.”

Derek slapped me. But my face was already so numb from the allergic reaction that I barely felt it.

With my throat swollen shut and my stomach cramping, I could barely force out a few words.

“Derek, I’m really pregnant. I found out two days ago. Please believe me!”

“This reaction could make me miscarry. Take me to the hospital!”

Derek ignored me and started sweeping up the broken glass.

“Enough! Because of your little phone call, Megan got called a homewrecker in broad daylight. Do you have any idea how humiliating that was for her?”

I stared at him, feeling something inside me go numb.

I didn’t say another word.

I just focused on breathing, saving every ounce of strength I had.

I had to save my baby!

Then I felt warmth between my legs.

I looked down. Blood.

Derek furrowed. He took a step toward me, but froze when he saw the blood-covered shards of glass on the floor.

“Nice try. You smashed the vase on purpose and covered yourself in blood just to get my sympathy.”

His expression turned icy.

“Good. Let it hurt. Maybe you’ll finally learn your lesson.”

He turned around and slammed the door behind him.

I didn’t have time to explain. I ran straight to the balcony.

We were on the third floor. The paramedics should still be downstairs.

I sucked in a breath and screamed toward the street.

“Help! I’m on the third-floor balcony!”
