His Last Mistake Was Letting Me Go Chapter 05

His Last Mistake Was Letting Me Go Chapter 05

The Ashford family group chat exploded at once.

My phone rang almost immediately.

But Sienna snatched it from my hand. “This isn’t even yours, is it? Still trying to use things Adrian paid for, you shameless bitch?”

As she spoke, she answered the call and put it on speaker.

“Evelyn, don’t be scared. Dad is bringing people over to get you right now.”

“I’m not that bitch Evelyn Ashford. I’m Sienna Prescott.”

My father’s voice turned much colder. “So you’re the one who’s been hurting Evelyn.”

“Yes. What are you going to do about it?”

“You’re bringing people to pick her up? I’d like to see who can take her out of here today if she doesn’t get

rid of that baby.”

“Young lady, I suggest you don’t do anything reckless. There’s still room to settle this properly.”

“Young lady?” Sienna sneered. “Who do you think you are, talking to me in that tone? Since Evelyn likes running to her family so much, fine. I’ll call mine too.”

“You’d better hurry. I’m dying to see what happens when your people meet my parents.

“I’m already looking forward to watching you kneel in front of them and beg.”

Before my father could speak again, Sienna smashed my phone to the floor.

Then she turned to me. “Now I’ll show you what a real power gap looks like, and you’ll understand why

Adrian chose me instead of trash like you.’

“You want your family to back you up? Then let’s see whose family carries more weight.”

“Evelyn, I suggest you kneel down and apologize to Sienna right now.” Bianca looked at me. “For the sake of

our friendship, I’m trying to spare you.”

“You have no idea how small your world really is, and you have no idea how much power the Prescott family really has.”

“Once Mr. Prescott gets here, losing the baby may be the least of your problems.”

I said nothing.

Soon enough, they would understand whose world was truly small.

They would understand who had mistaken a pond for the ocean.

While we waited, Adrian and the others sat around the dining table.

Adrian peeled shrimp for Sienna, and Bianca kept serving food onto her plate.

Adrian’s mother eagerly poured her wine, while the three of them laughed and talked as if nothing had

happened.

This was a kind of treatment I had never received. Even back when I took care of Adrian and married him after my family accepted only a token family gift, they had offered plenty of pretty words but never any real

kindness.

So this was the truth.

He had never truly loved me.

As Sienna ate, she glanced at me from time to time. She said nothing, but the smugness and provocation in her eyes were impossible to miss.

“You’ve never tasted Adrian’s cooking, have you? Here. A little reward for you.”

She tossed a bone she had already chewed onto the floor.

Adrian’s mother kicked it toward me. “Don’t be ungrateful. Sienna was kind enough to give it to you. Eat it.”

Bianca looked at me and said, “Evelyn, if you make Sienna happy now, you’ll suffer less later.”

Adrian spoke too. “Sienna is kind enough to give you a chance.”

A chance?

I remained unmoved.

Then I heard the roar of engines outside and instinctively looked toward the door.
