I Made a Bracelet for the Man Who Didn’t Love Me, and He Wore It for Two Years Chapter 12

I Made a Bracelet for the Man Who Didn’t Love Me, and He Wore It for Two Years Chapter 12

That night, I slept better than I had in ages.

When I woke the next morning,

I checked my phone.

There was a message from Cole.

He’d sent it two minutes earlier. [Awake? I made some oatmeal before I left. It’s in the kitchen.

Don’t forget to eat.]

I texted back a thank-you.

Then I scrolled up.

The messages from the night before were still there.

Even though I hadn’t been the one who sent them,

I was embarrassed anyway.

After that, Cole and I happened to run into each other a few more times.

He looked like the carefree type.

But underneath that, he was thoughtful and always knew where to draw the line.

I’d never been in a relationship before.

Even so, I knew exactly what it meant when I’started looking forward to seeing him.

Things fell into place almost on their own.

We got together.

The sun was especially bright that day.

He told me,

“I honestly thought I was only worried because I saw you as a friend. That’s why I kept looking for you for two years.”

“But that night, when Vivian used your phone to ask if I wanted to be your boyfriend… my heart

actually started racing.”

I thought for a moment. “Did you know Grant tried to set us up before?”

Cole looked surprised.

“He never said anything. But even if he had, if I didn’t like you, no amount of matchmaking

would’ve mattered.”

I let out a quiet breath.

So he really did like me.

It wasn’t because Grant had pushed him in my direction.

I smiled. “Okay.”

“His own love life is a complete mess, though,” Cole added.

I blinked.

I hadn’t paid much attention to Grant and Vivian in a while.

“They broke up again yesterday. Only this time… Grant didn’t go after her. He was the one who said they should end it for good.”

Cole kept going.

“He’s been weird lately too. Doesn’t seem as into Vivian as before. And he keeps coming over to talk, asking what I’m doing all the time.”

“Think he’s got a thing for me?” he joked.

I nearly choked on my water.

The next second,

Cole’s phone buzzed.

He didn’t bother hiding it from me.

He opened the message.

It was from Grant. [What are you doing?]

Cole clicked his tongue.

Then he typed right in front of me.

Just asked Claire to be my girlfriend. She said yes. Feel free to congratulate us.]

A long moment passed.

Grant finally replied.

One word.

[Congrats.]
