I Haunted His Dreams After He Dumped Me For My Roommate Chapter 05

A few days later, during the short break, the club had an outing.

Vera suggested she could ask Ethan to lend us his mansion.

The club president, Derek Ford, lit up. “Wait, seriously?”

Vera nodded. “He said I can have whatever I want.”.

Ethan showed up that day.

With his hair pushed back, he looked even more unreal-impossible to ignore.

He walked right past me, ice-cold, and took the stuff from Vera’s hands. When he talked to het, he actually laughed softly.

I trailed behind them, remembering the first time he kissed me. He’d laughed the exact same way at my dumbstruck reaction back then.

A bunch of us crowded into the kitchen, prepping for hotpot that night.

Derek asked me to grab something from his car.

Ethan was at the doorway, petting a cat.

As I passed, he turned his head away and held his breath, like he couldn’t stand my shampoo.

“You really have to do this? Even copying Vera’s shampoo?”

I paused. He hadn’t asked-just automatically believed her. But whether he believed me or not didn’t matter anymore.

My voice came out flat. “She copied me. I hate using the same stuff as other people, so I switched after I finished the bottle.”

“Don’t worry. You’ll never smell it again.”

He turned back.

Leaned in slightly, sniffed near me, then pulled away after a few seconds.

He really couldn’t detect that faint scent that had messed with his head.

But his expression-why did it hold something I couldn’t read?

After grilling by the pool, everyone sat around to play games.

Ethan drew the dare: hold hands with the person you like.

While everyone whooped, he walked straight to Vera and took her hand.

I watched their fingers interlock.

When we were together, he never held my hand in public.

It was my first relationship. My eyes were full of him; I didn’t know any better. I thought it was just

his principle.

Turns out he just didn’t like me enough.

But here’s the thing-even while holding her hand, Ethan stared at me through the crowd.

A few classmates glanced my way, pity in their eyes.

I knew he was doing it on purpose. He wanted me to finally kill whatever hope was left.

The girl beside me, worried I’d be upset, made up an excuse about being hungry and asked me to grab snacks from the kitchen.

I stayed in the kitchen for fifteen minutes.

I didn’t move until the fireworks outside completely burned out and everything dissolved into

night.

On my way back to the pool, I passed through the hallway and saw Ethan and his friend standing

there.

Ethan,

tall and lean, black hoodie, one hand in his pocket, leaning against the wall.

He was staring down at his other hand.

His friend smirked. “Still replaying it? Holding hands that good?”

Ethan shot him a look and pulled his hand back.

“Nah. I’m just… wondering why it doesn’t feel the same as in the dream.”

His friend had no clue what he meant. Ethan didn’t explain. He just raked a hand through his hair, visibly irritated.

His friend headed back to the pool.

In the unlit hallway, the pool’s ghostly blue light bled in.

Ethan looked up and spotted me in the corner.

His face went cold-clearly didn’t want to talk.

But as I walked past, he stared at my hair for a few seconds, then suddenly seized my wrist.

“Ethan, let go.”

He didn’t. He just gave me this hard, cold look.

Without warning, he pushed up my thin sleeve, exposing my wrist so he could see it clearly. /
