It was the middle of summer, but the sky was a flat, bruised gray, like a storm could rip open any

second.

Caius stared at my blank face. His forced smile finally crumbled.

“I’m sorry. I’m so goddamn sorry.”

“Ravenna, tell me what I can do. I’ll try anything.”

“We’re still young. We can have more pups. Don’t give up on me like this. I never, ever wanted to

divorce you.”

Caius’s parents divorced young and immediately started new families. Every holiday, he was a stray

with nowhere to go.

I married him and gave him a home so he wouldn’t have to wander through life alone anymore.

He was terrified of divorce. He couldn’t stand to lose the only home he had.

But it was far too late.

I asked the matriarch to come help with Eira’s funeral.

When it was done, she looked at me, then at Caius. The corner of her mouth lifted just slightly. She pressed a single finger to the center of his forehead.

“After the ruin you’ve caused, you’ll be nothing but ordinary from now on. Caius, your good days

are over.”

But Caius had always believed the world spun around him. He didn’t believe her.

I told him to test it himself.

The new moon came. Caius ignored every protest and barged into a terminally ill patient’s room.

He spoke with absolute conviction. “Your illness is about to vanish. You’re going to live to a

hundred.”

He stared at the patient, waiting for an instant recovery.

A full half hour passed. The patient didn’t improve. He got so agitated he had to be rushed to the

ICU.

The patient’s family was a wealthy wolf from the neighboring pack. They’d transferred their father father here for the top-tier medical care. Now they were livid.

The crowd surrounded Caius. They kicked him until his bones broke. He was beaten black and blue.

In his desperation, he spotted me standing nearby. His lips moved. “Save me…”

I saw it. But instead of saving him, I wanted them to hit harder.

So I gave a wave and had a beta deliver a few baseball bats.

I watched Caius get beaten until he vomited blood. For the first time in days, I genuinely smiled.

The public boycott was absolute. The Silvervein Pack declared bankruptcy, and the Lycan King reclaimed its territory.

Caius lost his Alpha title and his life-extending ability. He had no way back up.

Poppy finally woke up. When she heard the news, it shocked her so badly she passed out all over

again.

Desperate for me to speak in his defense, Caius signed every asset he had over to me.

“Ravenna, we’re supposed to build a life together. What do you get out of destroying me? Hold another press conference. Tell everyone I didn’t do it. I swear-I’ll spend the rest of my life making this right.”

Caius wanted me to help him claw his way back to the top.

I stared at his greedy, desperate face. I slapped him hard, then threw the signed divorce papers at

his feet.

“Caius, you know what I can do. Sign now, and I won’t curse you. Otherwise…”

He remembered what had happened to Poppy. In the end, he had no choice.

“Fine. I’ll sign.”

The divorce went through smoothly. My power made Caius too afraid to cause me any trouble.

Caius wasn’t so lucky.

Poppy had been his secretary. With the company gone, she had nowhere to go. She had no choice

but to keep clinging to him.

“Caius, now that Ravenna’s dead weight is finally gone, I know you’ll bounce back fast.”

Her gentle reassurance soothed him a little.

The moment she finished speaking, one of her bones snapped. Another lie, just to curry favor..

Caius was livid at her pitiful state. He was so furious he didn’t notice the truck speeding toward him until it was too late.

The truck slammed into him before he even registered the headlights.

The sound was sickening. Then silence.

When he woke, he couldn’t feel anything below his neck.

When Poppy saw he was paralyzed-that he’d need help with every humiliating basic function- she dropped the act instantly.

“You useless piece of trash. You can’t do a single thing without Ravenna. I’m such an idiot for wasting all this time on you.”
