He Used His Secret Mistress for Revenge Chapter 03

He Used His Secret Mistress for Revenge Chapter 03 No One Named Laila Romano
I deleted the messages at once and pushed the burner phone back into my bag.
Not long afterward, the bathroom door opened.
Vito came out with a cold face.
He was clearly waiting for me to apologize and give in, just as I always had.
Before this, even during my period, I had still taken care of his sexual needs.
Naturally, he could not understand why I had suddenly resisted him.
To prevent him from noticing anything unusual, I covered my lower abdomen and softened my tone.
“My period started today. My stomach hurts.”
The coldness in Vito’s eyes faded.
He pulled me gently into his arms.
“All right. You’re not feeling well, are you? I’ll bring you a bowl of oatmeal.”
Soon, a bowl of freshly cooked oatmeal was placed in my hands.
The ceramic was painfully hot.
I still held it with both hands as though I could not feel the heat.
Vito’s phone suddenly rang.
Lucia was calling.
“Vito, my stomach hurts so much. Can you come stay with me?”
His voice immediately filled with concern.
“Okay. I’ll come right away.”
He stood up in a hurry.
Only after reaching the door did he remember to explain himself.
“You know what this is. I’m only keeping up appearances.”
I did not respond.
After he had walked so far that I could no longer see him, I finally placed the bowl on the coffee table.
Both my palms had turned bright red from the heat.
On the way home, I received a new friend request.
It came from Lucia.
As soon as I added her as a friend, her messages began appearing.
“Did you believe that pretending to run into Vito would make him care about you?
“You spent three years shamelessly climbing into his bed and learning every possible way to satisfy him. What good did it do? I’m still the woman he loves, and I’m the one he’s marrying.
“You’d better attend our alliance banquet. I’ve prepared a special gift to thank you for taking care of him all these years.”
She sent another message containing a photograph of seafood oatmeal.
“You didn’t really think Vito cooked that bowl especially for you, did you?”
“He made mine first. Your plain oatmeal was only the part I didn’t want. He thought throwing it away would be wasteful, so he gave it to you.”
“You’re only a toy. What makes you think you can compete with me?”
I read every message more than once.
Then I looked at the plain oatmeal in my hands.
For an entire hour, I could not think of anything to say in response.
Lucia had told the truth.
Vito must have spoken to her about us many times.
I had believed our affair was a secret.
Instead, I was the joke everyone already knew.
I switched off my phone and lay awake through the night.
Sometime after midnight, a heavy, sinking pain spread through my lower abdomen.
The pain quickly became severe, and the bleeding was far beyond normal.
I went to a private hospital.
The examination revealed a threatened miscarriage.
The doctor had only begun explaining how to protect the pregnancy when I interrupted.
“I don’t want the baby.”
The doctor paused in surprise.
“Have you thought carefully about this?”
I nodded without hesitation.
Since I had decided to leave, I needed to cut every tie connecting me to this place.
“Then complete the required examinations and prepare for surgery.”
A nurse led me through the tests.
While I waited outside the operating room, Vito called.
I had barely answered when the nurse opened the door.
“Laila Romano? It’s your turn.”
I immediately ended the call.
When the procedure was over, I opened my eyes and saw Vito beside the hospital bed.
He watched me with an expression I could not understand.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant?”
I remained silent.
“Was it because of the alliance marriage? Laila, don’t act like a child. That was my baby too.”
He picked up the miscarriage report.
“Stay in bed and rest. I’ll take care of everything else.”
Vito walked out of the room but did not go far.
He stopped directly outside the door.
Ignoring the pain in my body, I forced myself out of bed.
His voice came clearly through the doorway.
“You saw the photos I sent you, right? Add the miscarriage report to the video too. I used protection every time, and she still got pregnant. Even fate wants this plan to succeed.”
Excitement entered his voice.
“I can’t wait to see Mario’s face when everything is shown at the banquet.”
Tears gathered in my eyes.
I had believed that losing our child might make Vito feel sorry for me.
Even a small amount of pity would have meant something.
Instead, he turned the miscarriage into another weapon against me.
That was the moment my heart finally died.
I sat on the cold floor for a long time.
Eventually, a nurse entered, found me there, and helped me back onto the bed.
Vito had already left, claiming that urgent family matters required him.
The next day, I checked out of the hospital and stayed at a nearby hotel.
Vito did not send a single message to ask whether I was recovering.
On the day of his alliance banquet, I mailed my gift to the venue.
Then I called him from the boarding gate.
The connection opened while one of his men was reporting to him.
“Godfather, nearly all the guests have arrived. The recording and the other materials are ready.”
Vito gave the man a brief response before speaking to me.
“Laila, where are you? Do you want me to pick you up? It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to leave right now, but I can make an exception for you. If you don’t want this alliance marriage to happen, I’ll leave with you.”
Even then, he was still trying to keep me with lies.
I lifted the boarding pass in my hand and said, “Vito, congratulations on marrying the woman you love.”
He hesitated, then laughed softly.
“You’re the woman I love. Be good and send me your location. I’ll come now.”
I ended the call.
Then I blocked his number and every account he could use to contact me before turning toward the boarding gate.
At the banquet venue, Vito continued staring at his phone.
He felt increasingly restless and irritated.
A faint sense that something was wrong had begun to trouble him.
At that moment, the main screen inside the hall flickered.
A second earlier, it had been showing Vito and Lucia’s wedding photographs.
One of Vito’s subordinates assumed the signal meant he should play the video prepared to humiliate me.
Before he could switch the footage, an urgent international news report took over the screen.
“Flight AZ612, which departed earlier today, has crashed into the sea following an accident. There were no survivors. Authorities will now announce the names of the victims…”
Crash!
Someone fell heavily inside the banquet hall.
My father, Mario Romano, stood beneath the screen with a deathly pale face.
His shaking finger pointed toward the passenger list.
“Laila! Laila was on that flight!”
Vito abandoned everything and rushed toward him.
“What did you say? Why would Laila be on that plane? When did she decide to go abroad?”
Mario was startled by Vito’s reaction.
Although confused, he still answered honestly.
“She was leaving the country to discuss business.”
Only then did Vito understand.
When he had seen me at the visa center, I had been handling my own documents.
His friends were devastated as well.
One of them looked at Vito and spoke quietly.
“After this, we shouldn’t play the video. Let it end here.”
