The Nameless Luna Chapter 08

The Nameless Luna Chapter 08

Her face is covered in tears and mucus.

Elder Lydia tries to help her up, but Esther immediately knocks her hand away.

“Don’t touch me!”

In the end, Mom and Dad have to forcefully take her away.

On the way home, Esther covers her face and cries the entire time.

Facing the daughter they have raised for six years, Mom eventually cannot bring herself to be

completely heartless.

“Esther, as long as you are willing to acknowledge us as your parents, you will always be our daughter.”

“We didn’t tell you the truth because we wanted to drive you away. We just believe you have the right to know.”

“You and Genevieve are both our daughters. From now on, can you two try to get along?”

Esther sniffles and quietly responds, “Okay.”

In the days that follow, Mom and Dad try every possible way to contact Genevieve.

They use every connection in the pack and search everywhere they can. But no one knows where

Genevieve has gone.

They move out of the old pack house and into a new three-bedroom house.

They even give the master bedroom, which has its own bathroom, to Genevieve, hoping it can

somehow make up for the pain she endured during those six years.

One year later, Esther drags her suitcase out and says she wants to leave the pack to find her own

path.

Mom holds her hand, “Esther, I know we’ve neglected you a little this past year. But Genevieve still

hasn’t contacted us, and your father and I are truly worried about her.”

Esther holds Mom’s hand back.

“I’ve thought about many things this past year.”

“I was just too afraid of losing your love, so I did those things that hurt Genevieve.”

“But she never fought me for anything.”

“Even my current job was something Stephen helped me take from her.”

“This time, I want to leave because I want to pursue my own life.”

“In my heart, you will always be my parents.”

“Maybe after I leave, Genevieve will be willing to come home.”

Stephen personally drives Esther to the station.

“Take care of yourself.”

Esther nods and pulls her suitcase toward the entrance.

Before passing through the gate, she suddenly turns around and looks at Stephen.

“Stephen, I’m sorry. If it wasn’t for me, Genevieve wouldn’t have left.”

“Actually, every time you treated me well, I saw the disappointment in her eyes.”

“I took everything that belonged to her. I’m truly sorry.”

Stephen’s hand on the steering wheel slowly tightens into a fist.

He forces a bitter smile.

How could he not know?

He had always known.

He just believed Genevieve couldn’t leave him.

He believed she couldn’t leave this family.

That was why he hurt her without hesitation.

By then, I have already worked at the Royal Pack for eight years.

I change my name.

Now, I am called Hope Sinclair.

In the eighth year after leaving, I choose to return to the pack.

Not because I want my family back.

There are simply some debts that I need to repay.

The plane lands late at night.

The cold wind cuts against my face, but I do not feel uncomfortable.

I survived six winters in that attic.

I have already become used to the cold.

My phone still has the new pack house address Mom sent me.

I do not rush to find them.

Instead, I meet my cousin Oliver first.

At the bar, the childishness has disappeared from Oliver’s face.

He has grown into a mature man.

He raises his glass and clinks it against mine.

“Happy New Year.”

“Happy New Year.”

I lift my glass and finish the drink in one gulp.

He looks at me, wanting to say something but hesitating.

After drinking two more glasses, he finally speaks.

“My uncle and aunt have been looking for you all these years. After they found out Esther wasn’t

their biological daughter, they regretted everything they did to you during those six years.”

“After you left, Esther left one year later too. She only comes back to visit them during the New Year

holidays.”

“You…”
