The Nameless Luna Chapter 09

The Nameless Luna Chapter 09

Stephen hurries over to me.

His eyes are slightly red with emotion.

“You’re finally back.”

“I tried everything I could to find you all these years, but I couldn’t.”

“Genevieve, I really missed you.”

“Stephen, I changed my name. I’m Hope Sinclair now.”

My voice remains calm.

“Is it because I asked you to change your name back then?”

Regret fills his expression, and his voice trembles.

“I’m sorry. I never wanted to hurt you. I just…”

“It’s not because of you.”

I wave to the server, ask for a new glass, and pour him a drink.

“The name ‘Genevieve’ always made me feel like everyone was calling another girl through me.”

“So I chose a new name for myself.”

“I am just me. I didn’t steal anyone else’s life.”

Stephen’s hand trembles as he holds the glass.

A little wine spills over the edge.

“Gen… Hope, I saw the words you carved into the attic floor. I didn’t forget the promise I made to

you.”

“The home I promised you, I have already built.”

“Will you become my Luna?”

“No.”

I raise my ring finger, where a diamond ring shines.

“I’m already married. He treats me well, and I already have a home that belongs to me.”

Stephen freezes.

His bloodshot eyes remain fixed on the ring.

I stand up, pick up my bag, and turn to leave.

Oliver immediately gets up and follows me.

He lowers his voice.

“How did I not know you were married?”

I smile.

“I lied to him.”

“Don’t tell anyone this secret.”

The next morning, I return to the new pack house with gifts I bought beforehand.

Mom has been waiting at the entrance since early morning.

She keeps looking outside, as if afraid she might miss me.

The moment she sees me, she excitedly walks out in her slippers.

“Genevieve.”

Hearing Mom’s voice, Dad also rushes over.

“Genevieve, you’re back.”

Another figure slowly appears behind them.

Her lips move several times before she finally forces out a sentence.

“Genevieve, long time no see.”

It is Esther.

Her long hair, which once reached her waist, has been cut into a neat short style.

Her pale skin has become tanned from spending time outdoors.

The moment I step inside the house, she suddenly apologizes.

“I’m sorry. I was the one who forced you to leave this family.”

“I was the one who took Mom and Dad’s love away from you.”

“Everything was my fault.”

Mom lowers her head and wipes away her tears.

Dad says nothing, but his trembling hands reveal his emotions.

I shake my head at Esther.

“It’s all in the past.”

Esther holds onto my hand tightly.

“Come back and live here. Mom and Dad miss you so much.”

I don’t answer her.

At the dining table, there is a whole feast waiting.

Every dish is something I love.

Dad places a lobster on my plate.

“You haven’t tasted my cooking in so many years. Try it and see if I’ve gotten worse.”

I pick up a chicken leg and take a bite.

Then I nod.

“It’s delicious.”

During dinner, I tell them about my eight years working at the Royal Pack.

I tell them how I started as a warrior and eventually became the Head Warrior.

I also tell them that I changed my name.

I am Hope now.

Mom smiles through her tears.

“Hope is a beautiful name too.”

“As long as it’s the name you like, we’re happy.”

The dinner lasts a long time.

The four of us sit together, casually talking about our lives.

But this warmth is only an illusion.

After dinner, I take a bank card from my bag and place it on the table.

“There is eight hundred thousand dollars in this account.”

“It’s the money I saved from working these past eight years.”

“I’m using it to pay back the cost of raising me for the past twenty-two years.”

Mom’s hand freezes while washing dishes.

The plate slips from her fingers and crashes onto the floor.

She rushes out and looks at me.

“You want to cut ties with us?”

“I know we were wrong. Look at this new pack house. It has three bedrooms. The biggest one is

yours.”

“Please don’t do this.”

Dad paces back and forth.

“Hope, your mother and I know we were wrong.”

“Can you forgive us this once?”

Esther opens her mouth.

But she quickly realizes she has no right to say anything.

I shake my head.

“You raised me from childhood. Even without a blood connection, you are still my parents.”

“But I am not your biological daughter.”

“So this debt is something I should repay.”

I look at Esther.

“I probably won’t come back often in the future.”

“Please take care of Mom and Dad.”

After saying that, I pick up my bag and stand up.

Behind me, I hear Mom and Dad crying.

But I don’t stop.

Before boarding the plane, my phone lights up with messages from the other Royal Warriors.

“Hope, what time is your flight today? We’ll drive over to pick you up.”

“We made your favorite Neapolitan pasta. Hurry back and join the New Year party!”

“Tonight, nobody leaves until we’re all drunk!”

I sit on the plane.

The sunset falls across my body, warm and gentle.

The endless light that belongs to me has finally found me.
