My Husband Fell for My Would-Be Killer Chapter 09

My Husband Fell for My Would-Be Killer Chapter 09

With every score settled, I planned to return to Sicily with Massimo.

To my surprise, Gabriele stopped me.

Gabriele had such a sharp tongue that I usually tried to avoid him whenever I saw him, afraid he/d

find something else to mock me about.

But this time, the usually irreverent Gabriele stood in front of me looking completely serious.

“Beatrice, I like you. Can I come with you?”

My eyes widened in surprise.

Gabriele remained serious as he waited for my answer, though there was a trace of nervousness in

his eyes.

I glanced awkwardly at Massimo.

He burst out laughing.

Only when I glared at him did he finally stop.

“Beatrice, this guy really does like you.”

“He’s a Nevada mining magnate. He really does think Ardizzone Dynasty is beneath him. There was

no reason for him to come all this way.”

“But the second he heard you needed him, he came without hesitation. Those helicopters were his.”

“The guy has money to burn. He said he wanted to make sure you made an entrance.”

I was speechless, yet a faint, unfamiliar feeling stirred inside me.

It was a strange feeling, knowing someone had feelings for me without ever saying so.

I sent Massimo away and asked Gabriele, “When did you start liking me?”

“We’d never even met before this, had we?”

Gabriele glared at me, looking wounded.

“Eight years ago, you stormed into the Vale Family stronghold alone with a gun.

“I’d been kidnapped by them. Then you fought your way in covered in blood and smiled at me.”

“That one smile was all it took. I fell for you right then.”

A lovestruck look appeared on Gabriele’s face as he spoke, and my lips twitched.

I’d only just turned eighteen that year. Young, reckless, and hotheaded, I’d charged straight into their stronghold on impulse.

I’d only meant to cause Vale Family some trouble so they’d stop coming after Bellacorte Family.

I hadn’t expected to rescue Gabriele in the process.

I’d forgotten all about it years ago.

Gabriele, apparently, never had.

Seeing my hesitation, he spoke again.

“If you don’t want me liking you, just pretend I’m repaying the favor.”

“Or I could move into your family? I can give you every gold mine I own, and our children can take

the Bellacorte name.”

“Do you want boys or girls? One or two?”

In the end, Gabriele happily limped onto the plane with us.

I ignored him for the next week because he just couldn’t keep his smart mouth shut.

Much later, when I found out I could still have children–and that I was pregnant with twins-I

couldn’t help feeling lucky.

So what if he had a smart mouth? I kind of liked it.
