The Comments Said She’d Replace My Daughter? Not on My Watch Chapter 12

He looked at me in panic. “How does Tessa know Felix?”

I didn’t answer. I gestured for him to keep watching.

“Felix, why don’t you light some incense too?”

Tessa handed him a stick of incense.

Felix didn’t take it. Instead, he grabbed her wrist and pressed her against the memorial table.

“Miss Rayne, you’re more calculating than I imagined.”

“You’re the one who killed your sister. Once her boyfriend was dead, she couldn’t go on living.”

“I have to admit, you knew her best.”

My daughter covered her mouth in disbelief.

Comments flooded across my vision.

[No way. Memorial-hall play in front of the second male lead? So bold.]

[I get it now. This is the performance the side-character mom was talking about.]

[Haha, looks like the male and female leads were both played.]

Meanwhile, Marcus stared hard at the livestream.

“Tessa Rayne, you really are a pleasant surprise.”

Tessa pushed him back a little. “Felix, do you know how much risk I took for you? Don’t forget what you promised me.”

“Once Marcus inherits Hart Holdings, I’ll secretly help you acquire it. In return, I want fifty percent of the company.”

Felix lifted her chin. “That idiot Marcus is so good to you. Can you really do it?”

Tessa turned her back to him, her voice cold. “If you’d grown up in a family like mine, you’d

understand.”

Felix breathed in against her shoulder. “You’ve managed to interest me. We’re the same kind of people.”

Tensing at his touch, Tessa resisted. “Are you insane? We’re in the Hart house!”

Felix laughed low. “Scared?”

Tessa turned her face away from the portrait, but Felix turned it back toward the camera.

“Exciting, isn’t it? In front of your sister’s portrait. Let me hear you moan.’

I stood up and cut the livestream.

“I don’t think we need to keep watching.”

Marcus collapsed to the floor, his face full of despair. “How… That’s impossible…”

I sighed. “It’s not your fault.”

“Marcus, you grew up at my side, and I shielded you so well that you never saw the ugliness of human nature. That’s my fault.”

My daughter came over and took my hand. “This isn’t your fault, Mom.”

“I’m the one who misjudged people.”

Thinking about how she had brought Tessa into the Hart family out of a moment of street loyalty, almost ruining everyone, Nina broke out in a cold sweat.

“Nina, you grew up without me protecting you, which forced you to grow thorns to survive. That’s also my fault.”

My gaze turned sharp. “For someone so young, Tessa Rayne has a mind full of schemes. I never

imagined they were after the entire Hart Holdings.”

“I wanted you to see, with your own eyes, the true faces of the girlfriend and best friend you trusted most. I’m also telling you that only the three of us and your late father are family. Beyond that, be wary of everyone.”
