He Left Me Behind, So I Married Someone Else Chapter 06

I opened my phone.

And the moment I saw the screen, my heart sank.

Grace was standing in front of the donut stand, holding up a donut.

“Adrian, look. What does this look like?”

He glanced at it.

“What? A plate?”

“Your belly, obviously. You’re such an idiot.”

He smiled.

Then he pulled out his phone and checked the time.

9:40 p.m.

He froze.

He had spent the evening walking around with Grace, visiting different places, and completely lost track of

time.

He hadn’t realized that three hours had already passed since Nora asked him to pick her up.

Luckily, the station wasn’t far from Briarwood Old Town.

It would only take about twenty minutes by car.

Thinking of that, he sent Nora the hotel location and typed a message.

[Got busy and forgot. I didn’t go pick you up. Just take a car to the hotel and get some rest. I’ll take you around Briarwood Old Town tomorrow.】

Only then did he put his phone away, convinced everything was handled.

After dropping Grace off at her hotel, he had planned to buy Nora some late-night food before going back.

But Grace suddenly grabbed his sleeve.

“Adrian…”

He lowered his head.

She bit her lip, her voice softening.

“I’m alone here… and I’m a little scared.”

“Just for a little while… can you stay until I fall asleep?”

He thought about it.

In the end, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse.

“Okay. Go to sleep.”

Grace’s eyes lit up.

After washing up, she sat on the bed wrapped in a blanket.

“Adrian,” she asked, “did you ever travel like this with Nora before?”

He leaned against the couch, replying to messages on his phone without looking up.

“No.”

“So this is your first time?”

“Yeah.”

“She’s really lucky.”

Grace smiled.

“You pushed aside so much work just to come here with her.”

He didn’t answer.

At 11:30 p.m., Grace said she was tired and lay down.

He stood up.

“I’m heading back.”

Grace grabbed his hand.

“Adrian, stay a little longer…”

“I’m still scared.”

He stood there, looking down at her hand holding his.

He wanted to leave.

But then he thought-

She was alone in an unfamiliar place.

It was normal for her to feel scared.

Nora was much stronger than her.

He could always find Nora tomorrow.

So he sat back down.

When he woke up the next morning, it was already 10 a.m.

Sleeping on the couch had left his back aching.

He rubbed his waist and stood up.

Grace was still asleep, wrapped tightly in the blanket.

He took out his phone.

Seven missed calls.

All from his best friend Ryan.

He called him back.

“What’s wrong?”

Ryan’s voice came through, urgent and panicked.

“Why are you only calling back now?”

“What the hell are you doing? Something’s happened. It’s bad. Check the messages I sent you!”
