The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 07

[Hannah’s POV]

Donald arrived at first light to collect me up the day I was released from the medical wing. He’d just finished packing my luggage when his phone buzzed with an incoming call.

Wanda’s voice drifted through the speaker, thin and upset. “Today’s Leo’s birthday. He won’t stop crying for his dad—can you come home to be with us?”

Donald glanced over at me, pretending I was still asleep, and lowered his voice. “Stay with Leo for now. I’ll be there shortly.”

He left. The second the front door clicked shut, I opened my eyes. I’d woken ages ago, only feigning rest to avoid facing him.

I told the guards posted at the building entrance I needed fresh air downstairs and asked them not to follow. Then I hailed a cab back to the temporary residence Donald had given me.

After packing every last possession, I booked the earliest available flight and headed straight for the airfield.

As I stepped through the boarding gate, my phone vibrated once. It was a text from Donald: [Wait for me at the medical wing, Hannah. I’ll come get you soon.]

I ignored the message entirely and powered my phone off.

Once the plane lifted into the sky, I stared out the window at the Ironclaw territory shrinking beneath the clouds, watching the sea of white cloud roll past. I buried my face in my hands, and silent tears

came at last—not in sobs, but in a steady, soundless stream. A farewell without words.

Donald and I had grown up side by side our whole lives. Wanda was the orphaned daughter of an elder wolf, taken in and raised by the Lupin family from childhood.

When I turned eighteen, I’d been dead set on deploying to the border, determined to earn my rank as a high-tier border guardian.

Mom had nearly collapsed from rage at my choice, and Dad had even threatened to disown me from the Lupin family. Only Wanda and Donald had stood firmly on my side.

As Alpha, Donald bore all my family’s anger for me. He’d gripped my hand tight in front of my furious parents, unshakable. “Hannah wants to protect this pack, and I will stand behind her choice. No matter how far she goes, I will wait for her return.”

Wanda had even transferred to the supply division that shipped provisions to the border outposts. She’d always smiled and cheered me on: “Hannah, you’re going to become Ironclaw’s greatest female warrior.”

They’d backed every dream, every bold decision I’d made. Somewhere along the line, though, I’d turned around to find no one left standing behind me at all.

I drifted in and out of fitful sleep the entire flight. When I jolted awake, streaks of dried tears still stained my cheeks.

The moment I stepped off the plane, my phone exploded with notifications—hundreds of unread messages, dozens of missed calls. Texts and missed calls flooded in from Donald, Wanda, and my

parents alike.

The phone rang again, Donald’s name lighting up the screen.

His voice cracked through the speaker, stripped of all Alpha composure. “Hannah, where are you? Are you alright? I’ve sent patrol teams across every stretch of territory—I’m losing my mind over here…”

“I’m fine. Don’t waste your time searching for me.”

A shaky breath of relief came through the line before he resumed begging. “Tell me your location, and I’ll come fetch you at once.”

“I’ve joined a new pack.”

“What?” Shock made his voice tremble violently. “I’m so sorry, Hannah. Every mistake was mine. Name anything you want, and it’s yours—please, just come home.”

He wasn’t speaking as Alpha now—just as a man who’d lost everything and knew it.

I cut him off before he could spiral into more apologies. “Donald, listen to me. Whatever we had is finished. I am never coming back to Ironclaw Pack.”

“Hannah, just let me explain—”

I ended the call without letting him finish.
