The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 06

The Rebirth Of A PTSD And Betrayed Luna Chapter 06

[Hannah’s POV]

When I blinked my eyes open again, the sharp tang of antiseptic flooded my nose.

I tore the IV from my wrist and swung my legs over the side of the bed, a raw cry tearing from my throat before I could stifle it.

The next second, strong arms pulled me tight against a solid chest. “Hannah, I’m right here. You’re safe now, it’s okay…”

My vision slowly cleared. This wasn’t the remote border rehab facility—it was the pack medical center.

Donald rubbed slow, soothing circles along my back, refusing to let go no matter how hard I struck at his torso.

My panic faded little by little, and I scanned the room.

Mom stood at the foot of the bed, her eyes red-rimmed and swollen shut from weeping.

“I’m so sorry, Hannah. This is all my fault.” Her voice came out hoarse and cracked. “I never knew you lost your memories, never knew how badly you’d been hurt…”

Dad’s face crumpled with grief as he spoke up. “We were blind and wrong before. We’ll bring in the finest wolf healers in all the packs to treat you. You’ll heal.”

I turned my head away, staring blankly at the wall, falling into a long, heavy silence.

Donald hurried to pour a glass of water, lifting it to my lips to sip slow, steady mouthfuls. I drank half the glass from his hand, then laid back against the pillows.

He set the cup aside and laced his fingers back through mine. “I had no idea everything you endured, no clue how severe your trauma was. I’m so sorry I thought you were putting on a show…”

I squeezed my eyes shut, not uttering a single word.

“I’ll make this right for you. I’ll fund the absolute best treatment—anything you ask for, it’s yours.”

My lips curled in a humorless twist. “Break your mating bond with Wanda. That’s the only thing I want.”

“Absolutely not.” Donald shot me an immediate refusal, his tone urgent. “I’ll grant you anything but that, Hannah. The pup is innocent, and I have to take responsibility for our child.”

He squeezed my hand tighter, his gaze earnest and pleading. “Please trust me. I only slept with her once. I never imagined it would result in a pup…”

“Even once is unforgivable betrayal.” I snatched my hand away, revulsion thick in my voice. “I will never share my mate with another she-wolf. You chose her—so leave me alone for good.”

Mom cut in, frantic to smooth things over. “The Alpha truly means every word of his apology. Look at everything he’s done for you…”

“Truly?” A hollow laugh burst out of me. “When I was bleeding out on the border, inches from death, he was holding a mating ceremony with my best friend. Is that your idea of sincerity?”

The ward fell dead silent. Not one person could find a reply.

Wanda showed up that afternoon. She rushed through the door and collapsed beside my bed, sobbing loudly. “Hannah, thank the Moon Goddess you’re alive! I was terrified I’d lose you! I’m so sorry—we’ll never set off fireworks ever again.”

Watching her performative grief made bile rise in my throat. “Wanda, the Alpha and my parents aren’t here. You can drop the act now.”

She froze mid-wipe of her tears, her hand hovering in the air.

I pressed on, cold and unyielding. “How long do you plan to keep performing this fake concern? Doesn’t it exhaust you?”

“What are you talking about? I care about you more than anything!”

She reached out to grasp my hand, and I shoved her arm away hard. “Get out. I don’t want to see your face.”

Wanda ran from the room, wailing. Donald pushed the door open moments later, his gaze fixed solely on me in the hospital bed—for the first time, he did not rush to comfort Wanda.

I spent two full weeks in the medical wing. Donald visited every single day, and my parents took turns keeping vigil by my bed, terrified I’d hurt myself again.

I didn’t rage or break down, nor did I offer a single smile. I cooperated quietly with every therapy and medical procedure, listened passively to their endless apologies. But I never once called them Mom or Dad again, and I never exchanged a single word with Donald.

My physical wounds mended quickly, yet the scars carved into my

soul showed zero sign of fading. Mom snuck off to cry alone in the hallway every day. Dad grew quieter and more withdrawn by the hour.

Donald pulled every string in his Alpha network to contact a world-renowned trauma specialist from a distant pack. He planned to take me to that pack’s territory for long-term treatment the second I was discharged.

“Hannah, I swear to you—I will fix all of this.”

I had no desire to go with him. This pack, this family, had long since erased any space that belonged to me.

A few days later, I received a message that breathed new hope into my chest.

It came from a high-ranking warrior who’d fought beside me on the border. He’d once been heir to the Darkmoon Pack, sent to the shared Ironclaw border to gain combat experience. Now he ruled Darkmoon as their new Alpha.

“Hannah, word of everything that happened to you has reached me. I know none of the accusations against you hold truth. Our pack is desperate for seasoned warriors with your skill. Would you consider joining us?”

I stared at the screen for a long, long time.

At last, I typed a single reply: [Yes.]
