His ‘Love Coach’ Planned Every Step of Our Relationship, She Also Planned Its End Chapter 10

The moment we left Logan behind, Felix refused to let me stay in that city for a single second longer. He booked the earliest flight available that day, intent on taking me out of the country.

It wasn’t until the plane climbed into the open sky and leveled out that his rigid posture finally relaxed.

“It’s over now,” he murmured, a long breath escaping him. “You never have to worry about him hurting you again.”

I met his deep gaze, catching a flicker of intense relief in his eyes that I couldn’t quite fathom. The moment Logan and I had started dating years ago, Felix had moved to London and cut off all contact.

In his own words, he simply hadn’t wanted to get in the way of my happiness. Back then, I hadn’t understood his choice, but I chose to respect it.

I never could have imagined our paths would cross again like this.

Felix kept his head lowered, his eyes anchored to me for the longest time, as if terrified I would vanish into thin air if he looked away.

I shot him a sideways glance, letting a teasing smile touch my lips. “It’s been five years, you know. Aren’t you afraid I’m just playing you?”

The usual playful, carefree smirk vanished from his face, replaced by an expression that was surprisingly intense.

“You have no idea how long I’ve waited to hear you say that. It’s been five years.”

Though he had laid out his feelings clearly over our texts, those words had still been trapped behind a screen.

Now, sitting right in front of him and hearing them out loud, my heart suddenly hammered violently against my ribs.

I couldn’t deny the spark waking up inside me.

But having just extracted myself from a toxic relationship, the frantic impulse that had driven me to text him in the first place had settled, leaving me completely at a loss for words.

In the end, I could only meet his gaze in silence.

I lost track of how long we flew, but the plane finally touched down.

Once we had settled into our accommodations, Felix mysteriously guided me out the door.

No matter how much I pressed him along the way, his lips remained absolutely sealed, offering nothing but a coy promise of a secret.

The mystery dissolved when our car pulled up to the coast. I turned my head, only to find Felix had completely vanished from the passenger seat.

When I looked out, he was already down on the beach, dropping to one knee amidst a sea of white lilies scattered across the sand.

He looked up at me with a soft, brilliant smile, his eyes dripping with absolute tenderness.

“I know how much you love the ocean. The proposal at the restaurant didn’t have the coast, so it didn’t feel official enough. Let’s do it right this time.”

He paused, letting the waves fill the silence. “You can say yes, or you can say no. The choice is entirely yours.”

He knew me far too well.

He had easily deduced that I must have been pushed to my absolute limit to suddenly reach out to him. He was terrified that I had only accepted his proposal in a fit of spite and raw emotion, and that I would wake up riddled with regret once the dust settled.

And so, he was giving me a clean slate, a genuine chance to choose for myself.

Felix’s eyes burned bright, packed with an intense, quiet expectation.

But I wasn’t ready to cave just yet. There were still too many unanswered questions that had haunted me for years, and I needed clarity. I stepped across the sand until I stood right in front of him, looking down into his face.

“What exactly did you mean back then?” I asked, voicing the question that had lingered in my mind for years. “Why did you say you moved to London because you didn’t want to ruin my happiness?”

A flush of crimson instantly crept up Felix’s neck, reaching the tips of his ears as he stammered awkwardly.

“I… I could see how head-over-heels you were for him back then. I wanted to be your wingman, to help you get what you wanted. But I was terrified that if I stayed close, I wouldn’t be able to control myself. I was terrified I’d give in and rip you away from his arms.”

Logan couldn’t control his straying eyes, yet he refused to let me go, subjecting me to five years of pure, agonizing torture.

Felix, on the other hand, had been so terrified of his own uncontrollable devotion that he chose to fly across the Atlantic just to let me be happy.

Looking at him, a profound certainty washed over me: spending the rest of my life with a man this good would be an absolute, beautiful gift.

I didn’t wait for him to slide it on, reaching down to take the ring from his fingers and slipping it securely onto my left ring finger. I shot him a playful, mock-annoyed glare.

“You’re late, you know. You should’ve ripped me away from him ages ago.”

As the finality of the gesture settled, our eyes locked, and we both burst into a fit of breathless laughter.

We laughed until our lungs ached. I finally turned, intending to walk back toward the path, but my eyes caught on a silhouette standing further up the shore.

Logan.

He was standing a long distance away, motionless, quietly watching Felix and me laugh and play.

The heavy ocean breeze whipped the edges of his clothes, making his silhouette look incredibly drawn and emaciated.

The moment he registered that I had spotted him, he made no move to bridge the gap or disrupt us. He simply held my gaze for one long, silent heartbeat, then turned around and walked away into the coastal fog.

We both knew the truth. From this moment until the end of time, my happiness would have absolutely nothing to do with him.
