The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 05

The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 05

Jealousy flickered in Vera’s eyes. I’d seen that look before.

One night, we were lying side by side, talking.

She played with my hair and suddenly sighed.

“Raven, you’re actually pretty lucky. You’re Damian’s fated mate, and you’ve got strong hunting skills.

That’s rare for a hybrid.”

Back then her eyes were just like they are now. Cold and full of envy.

Now she pushed my wheelchair toward Rod.

“You’re here for Raven, right?”

I gripped the armrests so hard my fingers went numb.

My teeth chattered. “You called him. This was you.’

The person who knew my deepest pain used the trust I gave her to hurt me in the worst way.

Vera laughed softly. “So you do know what shame feels like.”

Rod turned around. His dark eyes lit up.

He rushed toward me. “Raven! There you are!”

“I heard you’re doing well for yourself now, living it up in some pack?”

“Come on, give me some money. Twenty grand-that’s all I need for a pack to take me in!”

When he spoke, his crooked yellow teeth showed. That foul rogue stench filled the air.

Alpha Lester stepped back, frowning.

Luna Clara waved her hand in front of her face and pinched her nose. “He reeks.”

When I didn’t answer, Rod shoved his hand right into my pocket.

“Where’s the money? Hand it over. Now-‘

The madness in his eyes almost swallowed me whole.

And then, Damian rushed forward. He shoved Rod hard.

“Stay away from her! I’ve called the patrol. Now get the hell out!”

Rod fell to the ground, furious. He kicked out.

“Damian!” Vera shouted.

Damian instantly shifted. He tackled Rod to the ground.

In the chaos, Rod’s foot slammed into my wheelchair.

I couldn’t hold on.

The chair tipped and I hit the ground hard. The world spun as voices blurred around me.

The patrol team rushed in and I saw Rod scrambling away in panic.

Damian shifted back. He hurried toward me. “Raven!”

Luna Clara grabbed him.

“Damian, open your eyes! That she-wolf is not one of us. Her bloodline is filthy!”

Damian went still. He just looked at me. And didn’t move.

A laugh escaped me. I braced myself with my elbows and slowly pushed up.

The pain tore through me.

Tears slipped down before I could stop them. I wiped them away.

“You think you’re so much better than me?”

“An unfaithful mate. A best friend who’s nothing but a mistress. And an Alpha and Luna who can’t even look

after their own pack.”

My voice turned ice cold. “You don’t get to judge me.

The moment I finished, Damian staggered, eyes wide.

“You never lost your memory?!”

I smiled. “Even if a werewolf loses their memory, they won’t forget their mate’s scent.”

“That lie was pathetic. And you bought every word of it.”

Damian was never stupid. If he believed something this ridiculous, it was because he chose to.

He wanted me to forget so he would not have to choose between me, his parents, the pack, and Vera.

Vera reacted instantly. She stepped forward and wrapped her arm around his.

“Damian, she never lost her memory! She was testing us this whole time. Playing us! How could she do that to us?”

She looked at me, her eyes full of accusation. Like I was the one at fault

I met Damian’s eyes, cold and steady.

“So what it I had lost my memory? Would that make what you did with Vera any less of a betrayal?”

Damian took a step toward me. “Raven, 1-”

I swung my arm and shoved him away. “Don’t touch me!”

Everything about him and them made me feel sick.

I pulled a silver blade from my waist.

A weapon meant for killing vampires, and just as lethal to a werewolf.

“No! Raven! Do you have any idea what you’re doing?!”
