The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 02

The Half-Blood Who Rejected Her Alpha Mate Chapter 02

“Raven.” Vera’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

“Honestly, Damian and I are a better match. Aren’t we?”

Of course they were. Her father was Alpha Lester’s beta, and she was a beautiful pure-blood she-wolf.

“I’ve known Damian since we were kids. If it weren’t for… certain accidents, we would’ve been mates a long time ago.”

Vera glanced at him and smiled. “Right, Damian?”

His voice turned gentle. “You know I’ve always loved you.”

Ten years. We’d been together for ten years. And now, to him, I was just… an accident?

My wolf snarled, ready to lunge.

Vera looked at me, and there wasn’t a trace of guilt in her eyes. Only hatred.

So this “best friend of ten years”—that was all in my head.

She’d hated me all along?

“It doesn’t matter that you’ve forgotten everything,” she said lightly. “Now, it’s your turn to give us your blessing.”

I said nothing. I just stared at her.

When did it start? When did she begin to hate me?

Then it hit me.

That summer after high school. The day I came of age and finally gained the ability to shift.

I ran into the forest, excited to tell Vera.

But the moment I stepped in, I was pulled into a warm embrace, filled with a scent that felt like home.

Damian. He told me he knew I was his fated mate the moment he first laid eyes on me.

He said he’d been waiting for me to come of age.

I couldn’t fight the pull.

We kissed. We held each other. We got lost in it.

Until Vera showed up.

“Raven, I caught your scent! Are you here for me?” She ran out happily.

Then she saw us. Her expression shifted instantly. She turned and ran.

Later, I tracked her down. I told her the truth. That Damian and I were fated mates.

Her eyes went wide. The cup slipped from her hand. It shattered across the floor.

“How is that possible? Damian didn’t even accept the most beautiful she-wolf in the territory… you… you’re so lucky…”

I panicked and pulled her away from the broken glass, afraid she’d cut herself.

I never stopped to think about the look in her eyes. That complicated, unreadable look in her eyes.

So it started back then. Not ten years of friendship. Only three.

The rest of it? Just pure hatred.

I took a sip of water and forced the bitterness down. It felt like it was cutting my throat on the way down.

I was about to speak when the door opened.

The healer walked in. “The patient has a severe fracture in her leg. She’ll need surgery.”

“Hybrids have poor self-healing, so the procedure comes with significant risk.”

“Someone needs to sign the consent form.”

“I will.” Damian answered without thinking.

The room fell into a strange silence.

Vera clenched her jaw.

“Damian, you barely know Raven. I should be the one to sign. We’ve been best friends for ten years.”

Best friends? She made me fake amnesia just to expose their relationship. And now she still had the nerve to say that?

I was pretending to have amnesia. Not that I had lost my mind. Did she really think I was that stupid?

I held out my hand to the healer.

“That won’t be necessary. I can sign for myself.”

Vera’s expression darkened.

“Healer,” Damian suddenly said. “Is there any way to restore her memory?”
