My Husband Backed His Assistant-Until He Learned She Had Killed His Mother Chapter 10

Vanessa went rigid. The entire ballroom fell silent for a second. Then Ethan completely lost control.

“Olivia, have you lost your mind? I just told you to stop causing trouble, and now you’re saying my

mother is dead again?”

Emily screamed too.

“How vicious can you possibly be? Today is my mother’s birthday, and you keep saying over and over that something happened to her!”

Vanessa’s eyes turned red at once, as though she were the one being bullied.

“Olivia, I know you don’t like me. But you can’t say something like this just to frame me.”

“Margaret is your mother-in-law too. How can you use whether she’s alive or dead as a weapon against me?”

The guests around us started whispering.

“She’s really lost her mind.”

“Just because her husband values a female assistant, she’s willing to make up a lie like this.”

“And on Margaret’s birthday, of all days.”

“She’s actually standing here in public saying her own mother-in-law was killed.”

“Ethan, keeping a wife like this around is only going to cause bigger problems sooner or later.’

Even my mother gently tugged on my hand.

“Olivia, what exactly is going on?”

I patted her hand.

Then I looked at Ethan.

“Send someone to the Lakeshore Restaurant, and you’ll know whether I’m lying.”

That only made Ethan angrier.

“The restaurant again. Everything you’ve said today comes back to that restaurant.”

“You’re jealous because I gave it to Vanessa!”

“Olivia, I can overlook your usual sensitivity and tantrums. But today is my mother’s birthday.”

“If you say she’s dead one more time, I’ll have my lawyer put divorce papers in front of you immediately.”

Vanessa raised a hand and wiped away tears that weren’t even there.

“Mr. Walker, if Olivia cares this much about the restaurant, then I’ll give it back to you.”

“As long as she stops attacking Margaret, I don’t care if I lose a restaurant.’

Ethan’s expression softened at once.

“Vanessa, you’re too kind. I already gave you the restaurant. It’s yours.”

Then he shot me a vicious look.

“No one has the right to take it away from you!”

“Some people can’t accomplish anything on their own, so they can’t stand seeing anyone else

succeed. Don’t pay attention to her.”

Emily joined in at once.

“Exactly. Vanessa, don’t let her scare you. She just can’t accept that without the title of Mrs. Walker, she has nothing.”

I looked at them and suddenly found the whole thing absurd.

“I hope you’ll still defend Vanessa like this after you learn the truth.”

Ethan had completely run out of patience.

“The truth? The truth is that you’re jealous of Vanessa!”

“You deliberately sent someone to the restaurant to cause trouble. Things got worse and someone died, so now you’re trying to blame everything on her!”

“And now you’re even making up a lie that something happened to my mother just to distract

everyone.”

“Olivia, falling in love with you was the biggest mistake of my life!”

He pulled out his phone.

“You keep saying my mother is dead, don’t you? Fine. I’ll have someone find her right now!”

“I want her to come here and hear for herself every vicious thing her own daughter-in-law has said

today!”

The call connected, and Ethan gave the order.

“I don’t care what you have to do. Contact her driver, the security staff, everyone who knows my mother. Find her. Now. And the second you do, bring her straight to the hotel.”
