A Gift for the Don: I Aborted His True Love’s Heirs Chapter 04

A Gift for the Don: I Aborted His True Love’s Heirs Chapter 04

Night fell.

This time, Damian came home on time.

“I need to handle some casino business in Las Vegas. Want to come with me?” He asked it casually, but his eyes were glued to his phone screen.

I watched his thumb move rapidly. Messaging someone.

I hid the icy fury burning behind my eyes.

“How long will you be gone?”

“Three days. Two nights.”

I set my fork down slowly. I forced my lips into a soft smile. “My stomach’s too heavy for travel. I’ll stay here and rest. Go have fun.”

Damian’s relief was visible. He walked over and gave my hair a brief, absent touch.

“You’ve been pushing yourself too hard lately. Get some rest.” A flicker of guilt shot through his eyes. “I know you’ve suffered… I’ll make it up to you. We’ll be good together from now on. Okay?”

His palm was warm and calloused. This gesture used to soothe me.

Now it just made my rage roar.

Damian left the following evening.

He was unusually meticulous that day. Inspected the estate’s security system himself. Ordered Aldo to report my condition daily via encrypted line.

Standing at the door, he suddenly stopped. He turned back to look at me.

The strange look in his eyes made my chest clench.

For one brief moment, I almost believed he’d seen through my plan.

“Audrey.” His voice dropped low. “If anything happens, call me on my private line.”

I stood beneath the marble hallway and watched him disappear into the night.

My phone buzzed. A message from Dr. Mira.

[The procedure’s scheduled for dawn tomorrow. You’ll need to be ready. Under the medical authorization rules, a family rep has to be here to sign off.]

I replied immediately. [I’ll sign for myself. I’ll be there.]

A long pause. Then her response:

[Donna Audrey, ending this pregnancy now is extremely dangerous. Per the Falcone family’s medical authorization policy, the Don or the consigliere has to sign off.]

My reply was calm. [The Don’s in Las Vegas. I have no family here. I’ll take full responsibility.]

After tomorrow, this nightmare would be over.

Soon, my feed flooded with photos of Damian’s glittering escapades.

Bodyguards, capos, and family confidants living it up.

But the image that shredded my heart was Damian standing in front of a villa, arms wrapped around Nina, the two of them kissing like true lovers.

Late at night, Nina posted a video.

They were gathered around a fireplace. Drinking. Grilling meat. Laughing with unrestrained joy.

Then the raucous laughter exploded.

Someone shouted, “Damian’s a fucking genius! Got his own Donna to happily breed donor embryos for him while keeping his real love right by his side!”

“No shit!” another voice chimed in. “A free incubator. A legal wife. And he gets to save his true love. Brilliant!”

Damian didn’t deny it. He just raised his glass, a smug smile spreading across his face.

My grip on my phone tightened until the edges nearly cracked the screen.

Everyone knew. Everyone except me.

“Would love to see Audrey’s face when she finds out those six babies she’s carrying are actually all Nina’s.”

“Bet she completely loses her mind.”

“Let’s make a bet! See how long Audrey can hold it together!”

The video was grainy. But I saw Damian’s satisfied smile with perfect clarity.

My life was worth nothing to them.

“Damian Falcone.” I whispered into the empty estate. “One last game. Let’s see who breaks first.”

The next dawn, the procedure was far more brutal than I’d imagined.

When the cold instruments entered my body, I bit down on the cloth gag until I tasted blood. I didn’t make a single sound.

After the six embryos were removed, I had Mira run DNA tests immediately.

The results confirmed it. Not a single one belonged to me.

“Do you want to see them?” Mira asked quietly.

“No.” I closed my eyes. “Save all of them. Keep them separate. And send me every last medical record.”

I pulled out my phone and messaged the person I trusted most in the Santoro family.

“Do exactly as I say. And make sure that ‘gift’ reaches Damian in three days.”
