He Wrapped Me Up for His Crush. Now I Live in His Head. Chapter 05

The next morning, I went to the school district office.

I asked about transferring.

The receptionist was a middle-aged woman with glasses who seemed kind.

“Transferring in junior year can be complicated.”

“Unless there’s a special reason.”

She closed the file and looked at me seriously.

“I… I’ve been bullied at school.”

I spoke so quietly I could barely hear myself.

Saying those words took every bit of courage I had.

The woman looked up.

“Do you have evidence?”

Her expression turned serious.

“If it’s true, the school and district have to handle it.”

I opened my phone and showed the videos. Each one was a nightmare.

Every time I watched, it felt like a knife in my heart.

But now they were evidence.

The woman watched, her face growing darker.

“This is way too far.”

She stood up suddenly, anger in her eyes.

“This isn’t a simple prank.”

“This could be assault and harassment.”

“Did you call the police?”

I shook my head.

Call the police?

Let everyone know how I’d been humiliated?

Let Logan face punishment?

I…

I couldn’t do it.

“Why not?” she asked, both angry and heartbroken.

“Listen, Avery, you need to protect yourself. These people have to face consequences.”

“I… I just want to transfer.”

I kept my head down, voice even smaller.

Leaving was enough. I didn’t want any more connection. I didn’t want to see them again.

She sighed.

“Where do you want to go?”

Her voice softened with sympathy.

“Briarwood Prep.”

That was the best college-prep school in the neighboring town.

Where Aunt Claire worked.

It had a good academic environment without all the drama.

“Briarwood Prep? That’s competitive.”

“You’ll need transfer approval and a bunch of paperwork.”

“I already have approval.”

Aunt Claire had asked me last month.

Briarwood Prep’s honors track needed a strong student.

My grades were more than enough.

I’d turned it down then.

Because I couldn’t let go.

Now it seemed ridiculous.

I’d thought I was his whole world. But I was just a tool to impress others.

The woman worked fast. She clearly felt bad for me.

By that afternoon, everything was processed.

“You can start at the new school as early as next Monday.”

“Thank you.”

I thanked her.

As I was leaving, she called out.

“Kid. In your new environment, start fresh. Forget the people who hurt you. You deserve better.”

My eyes watered again. A stranger’s kindness hit harder than familiar cruelty.

Outside the district office, the sunlight felt blinding.

I took a deep breath.

A new beginning was coming.

Avery, you can do this.
