The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 10

The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 10

Cassian provides a substantial settlement.

Enough to purchase a third of the pack’s territory. Plus the mansion we inhabited for three years.

I return once. Everything remains as I left it.

In the closet, those designer clothes and jewels I was never permitted to wear, items I begged for, sit untouched.

The safe’s combination is changed to my birth date.

I spend two days discarding everything. Clothes. Jewels. The house itself.

All donated to a dilapidated Omega shelter.

My phone buzzes. A text appears.

“Seraphine, why discard everything?”

“Was it insufficient? I can give more.”

I block the number immediately.

At sunset, the doorbell rings unexpectedly.

Cassian’s Gamma stands outside, holding a deed to pack territory.

He hesitates.

“Alpha says the dissolution agreement is inadequate. He sent me with this deed. Additional compensation.”

“Cassian, I am glad you did not leave me destitute.”

After all, we signed a pre-bond agreement. He could have done precisely that.

But I continue.

“What you have given exceeds my needs. So much that I dispose of it.”

“When I decide, I do not retreat.”

A car window rolls down slowly.

Behind it, a face. Exhausted. Haggard.

The Alpha who once stalked the world now bears dark circles and stubble.

“Seraphine, I only wish to amend my wrongs.”

I pass the deed back through the window.

“You have compensated me enough.”

“Cassian. We are even.”

He suddenly grips my wrist with startling force.

“How can we be even?!”

“Your wolf… and all I inflicted… I am the one at fault.”

“I used to hate you,” I say, meeting his gaze directly, not withdrawing my hand.

“I hated my wolf dying. I hated the pack treating me as refuse. I hated that you could have saved me, yet gave that power to the Beta who wished me gone.”

“But I must admit, it was your costly treatments that sustained my wolf for three additional years.”

In the end, I spent every ounce of hatred on them both.

I wanted to gut them with silver. Watch them torn apart by rogues under full moon.

But when I stood in open air, wind striking my face,

I felt my dead wolf release one final breath from the depths.

“Seraphine. Do not look back. Live the life you desire.”

And in that moment, the one I hated most was myself.

I hated my weakness. Clinging to an Alpha like a parasite to survive.

I hated not heeding Elder Odric sooner. Not realizing freedom in the wild surpassed rotting in a gilded cage.

I hated my pride and refusal to release, shackling me to this agonizing bond, to the pack’s rigid laws, for three years.

Even with my wolf on its deathbed, it feared my rage would drive me to ruin instead of simply living well.

“We are square. You gave me much. I emerged ahead.”

Perhaps my voice is too cold, carrying the bitterness of a heart long dead.

Cassian has no answer.

Those eyes once full of arrogance are now hollow.
