The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 06

The Alpha Willfully Let His Beta Slay My Wolf Chapter 06

I turn. Vera stands there. Head to toe in designer outdoor gear.
Stiletto ankle boots.

An outfit screaming for photographs.

She wrinkles her nose, assessing me and my team like roadside carrion.

“Alpha mentioned you fled. Wondered where you crawled. Found you here, rolling in mud with these pitiful low-rank Omegas.”

Cassian cannot hear her. The mask falls fast.

The practiced politeness? Gone. Burned to ash.

My expression cools.

We just dragged ourselves from a swamp, caked in mire.

But even that sludge is cleaner than the hypocrisy beneath her perfume.

“Which sewer did you ooze from, Vera? You reek of decay.”

Vera’s face flames crimson. She prepares to erupt when a broad-shouldered figure climbs from the Range Rover behind her.

“What occurs here?”

That voice.

Instantly, Vera’s eyes well with tears.

She sways against him, voice dripping with crafted grievance.

“Alpha, it is naught… I worried for Luna. She was gone so long. I knew not she preferred these… people… to returning. I sought to reason with her.”

“But she twisted my words and insulted me…”

Cassian turns. Sees me covered in mud. Frowns.

“Seraphine.”

He exhales, stepping closer.

“You let yourself fall to this? I know you are angry, but you need not degrade yourself to punish me.”

He reaches to brush back my tangled hair, touch gentle.

“Look at your hands. Ruined. Vera worried for you. Why this ingratitude? This hostility?”

“Apologize to Vera. Come home. I bought new bath salts. End this folly. Be good.”

I duck away from his hand and call to the team.

“Let us go.”

A young researcher from another pack leans in. “Seraphine, who is that striking male? Clearly obsessed with you.”

I laugh bitterly, loud enough to carry.

“Merely an ex who enjoys theatrics.”

Team members who recognize Cassian freeze.

Cassian’s Alpha pressure crackles, near eruption.

He steps forward, blocking my path.

“Seraphine, how dare you speak so cruelly?”

“You followed me here, staged this wilderness farce… merely to wound me, yes? Fine. You succeed. Happy?”

“You destroy yourself thus… are you forcing me to cut your treatment funds?”

He watches me, certain I will panic at the loss of medical support and crawl back as always.

Instead, I meet him with exhausted calm.

“Cease it,” I say flatly.

“Cassian, your ‘loyalty,’ your ‘protection’… is it not simply a cycle of stripping me of everything?”

“You wish to cut it? Cut it. You require no excuse.”

My expression, disgust mingled with indifference, strikes him like a blow.

Uncontrolled panic leaves him floundering.

He does not notice Vera behind him, face bloodless, sliding into horror.

“Fine, Seraphine. Force my hand.”

“If I do not teach you a lesson, you shall never learn to be a proper Luna.”

He makes the call on the spot, voice carrying through the mind-link to the pack’s chief healer.

“Dr. Draven. Suspend all of Seraphine’s wolf spirit stabilization treatments.”

“She has gone too far. She must understand that without my support, she is nothing.”

“Halt her medications immediately. When she regains sense and returns, we shall resume.”

His eyes lock on me as he speaks, awaiting my crack.

No desperate agreement comes through the link.

Only silence.

Seconds later, the healer’s trembling voice explodes through the mental channel, striking Cassian like a bomb. His face drains of color.

“Alpha… what do you mean?”

“Luna’s treatment… ceased last month. Her wolf… is extinguished.”

“Alpha, no medicine in this world can recall a dead wolf.”

“You… did not know?”
