The Twins She Kept Secret Chapter 08

I repeated what I had heard that day outside his study, the words he had said to Marcus.

Silas’s expression twisted, wounded and furious all at once. “You didn’t stay to hear the rest?”

I shook my head.

He pulled out his phone, called Marcus, and put him on speaker.

“Repeat exactly what I said in the study that day.”

Marcus’s voice came through dry, sounding thoroughly amused. “You said you were tired of her being just your lover, so you wanted to make her your Luna.”

“Hey, did you find her? Good luck, man.

Silas hung up.

He looked at me, his gaze burning. “Did you hear that, baby? I was telling the truth.”

“How could I ever get tired of you? From the very beginning, I was trying to find a way to bind you to me forever.”

I stared at him blankly.

So I had misunderstood.

But the pups.

He had said he did not want children. He had said he would never have heirs.

Before I could spiral any further, Silas caught my hand. “Baby, this was my fault. I had already thought of you as my real mate. I thought… I thought being together was enough, and I forgot to truly tell you what you meant to me.”

“Give me one more chance. Please.”

“Don’t abandon me.”

My mind was a mess. I did not know what to say.

A wave of nausea hit me, and I rushed into the bathroom, dry-heaving over the sink.

Silas followed me in. He gathered my hair behind my neck, pressed a cool towel there, and handed

me water to rinse my mouth.

“Baby, what’s wrong? We need to call the pack healer.”

I turned my face away. “No. It’s just… my wolf settling.”

He lifted me into his arms and carried me to the bed. Then he tucked me in and laced his fingers through mine.

“I will never let anything hurt you again. Never.”

In the dim light, I studied his face. “Silas… why don’t you like children?”

He shrugged, lightly tracing circles in my palm. “They’re loud. Annoying. That’s all.”

“Baby… why do you keep asking?”

I pulled the blanket over my head, my voice muffled. “No reason.”

Exhaustion dragged me under.

For the first time in weeks, I slept deeply.

Until the middle of the night, when a burning touch made my wolf jolt awake.

I startled and opened my eyes to find Silas staring at me intently.

“Baby. You’re pregnant.”

A cold chill swept through my whole body. I opened my mouth to deny it. “No, I’m not…”

Too late.

I had left the medical papers on the nightstand after the appointment.

I was so stupid.

Letting him into my room had been a mistake.

Silas’s eyes shone. “Eight weeks. Our pups. Our bloodline.”

“We need to mark you. We need to form the bond. Today. Now.”

I whispered, “But you said you didn’t like children. You said you could never have any.”

He exhaled hard, the breath trembling. “Baby… let me explain.”
