They Called Me the Pack’s Curse Chapter 04

Every day, the bodyguard reported the same thing.

Pearl’s routine was simple. She worked at a café in the human district during the day, trained at the pack gym at night, then went straight home.

No trouble. No threats.

Gradually, I started to relax.

Maybe this time, Pearl would be safe.

Maybe this time, I could save at least one person.

Then the Silver Moon Oracle’s voice echoed in my mind again, cold and merciless.

[Tonight, your sister will be attacked by a group of rogues in the alley behind the café. She will die in agony.]

Panic hit me instantly.

I grabbed my phone and called the bodyguard.

No signal.

I tried again.

And again.

Nothing.

I didn’t have a choice.

I ran.

My wolf strained beneath my skin, threatening to break free as I sprinted through the streets, faster than any human could ever move.

And then I saw it.

The same nightmare.

Pearl lay in a pool of blood, her body partially shifted, her throat torn open.

She lifted her head when she saw me, her eyes already dimming.

“Lila…” she whispered with her last breath. “Run… save yourself…”

I forced myself to stay calm.

Think.

I turned toward the three massive wolves standing over her, their fangs dripping with blood, their eyes full of malice.

“I’ve already called warriors from Black Thorn Pack,” I shouted, steady despite the fear clawing inside me. “They’ll be here any minute. You still have time to run.”

The rogues exchanged looks.

Then they burst out laughing.

“Afraid of Black Thorn Pack?” one of them sneered. “You think we care?”

“Your father owes us a debt. A blood debt. He took our land. Slaughtered our people. Now it’s time to pay.”

“And you…” the lead rogue’s gaze dragged over me, filthy and predatory. “A pretty little she-wolf from Silver Moon Pack.”

“We could sell you to the Southern Pack. Pure-blood females fetch a high price. Especially ones tied to an Alpha heir.”

“Or…” he kicked Pearl brutally. “You end up just like her.”

I tried to stall.

They saw right through it.

Step by step, they closed in, claws extending.

Just as the lead wolf’s claws were about to sink into my skin, a thought struck me like lightning.

Clear. Sharp.

Everything clicked.

I moved.

My foot slammed into his groin, forcing him to double over with a howl of pain.

Then I lunged for Pearl, dropping to my knees beside her, my hands wrapping around her throat.

Tight enough to cut off her air.

Not enough to kill.

“Back off!” I shouted, my voice echoing through the alley. “Take one more step, and I snap her neck.”
