His Captive Obsession Chapter 04

His Captive Obsession Chapter 04

Mom and I packed up and moved.

Our old place was a first-floor apartment with a basement.

The five-year lease had one month left, and we had originally planned to renew it.

But then a distinguished-looking man with silver-streaked hair showed up at our door, demanding that Mom take me and leave.

His eyes looked exactly like Daddy’s—a deep, striking amber.

Dressed in an impeccable designer suit, he radiated power.

He slid a credit card across the table toward Mom.

“We meet again, Miss Linton,” he said smoothly. “I know exactly how women like you think. You sleep your way into a bed for two reasons: power or money.”

Mom told me to go to my room and play.

Instead, I laid flat on the floor, pressing my ear to the crack in the door to listen.

Mom didn’t touch the card.

“Mr. Vance, you gave me one of these two years ago. I can’t accept this.”

The handsome older man let out a condescending chuckle.

“So you do remember. Two years ago, I came back from abroad and found Tristan wasting his life with you.”

“I have to admit, you’re clever. He was raised to be rational and disciplined, yet you manipulated him into hiding from me and ruining his life for three whole years.”

His sharp gaze faltered for a fraction of a second.

“You even convinced him to let you have his child,” he said, his voice dropping an octave. “That is a massive liability for the Vance family.”

He glanced toward the hallway.

“Where is the child?”

Mom tried to step in his way, but I shot out of the room like a bolt of lightning to greet him.

“Hi, Uncle!”

Seeing that I wasn’t afraid of him at all, he paused, his lips tightening.

“At least she inherited his good looks,” he remarked, his tone freezing over again. “But I won’t let a child soften my stance.”

“Tristan is the heir I personally groomed. Five years ago, you seduced him off his path. Two years ago, I thought we made a perfect deal—I pay you, you disappear.”

“Yet what did you do? You kept him chained up for seven hundred days.”

“I have no idea what he endured. The city’s surveillance network never caught a single glimpse of his face, meaning you kept him completely hidden away.”

“You even tattooed… that trash onto his abdomen. It’s a disgusting humiliation.”

“I honestly don’t get it. Were you holding out for a larger ransom? If you wanted the Vance family to pay, you should have at least left a trail for us to find him, shouldn’t you?”

Mom covered my ears.

“Mr. Vance, it was actually his own idea—”

The man cut her off, looking down his nose at her.

“I don’t care about your excuses. You need to move out immediately and swear you will never approach Tristan again.”

Mom nodded quietly.

“I understand, Mr. Vance. But… if he comes looking for me, will you take him back?”

The man scoffed.

“Are you worried he’ll get his memories back and come for revenge?”

He scribbled a string of numbers on a notepad.

“Call this number if that happens. But since you’re the one at fault here, I will only advise him not to take things too far.”

He cast a final, sweeping glance over us.

“Take the kid and move out as fast as you can. Tristan has been incredibly volatile these past few days, swearing he’ll dig up the entire city just to find you and kill you.”

“His methods make mine look tame.”

It sounded terrifying.

I hid behind Mom, peeking out until the man finally disappeared past the garden gate.

Within a few days, we moved into a spacious condo overlooking the river.

It had a beautiful sunroom and a massive balcony where Mom could still tend to her plants.
