His Captive Obsession Chapter 03

His Captive Obsession Chapter 03

I used Mom’s phone to look him up.

The articles said the Vance family practically ran the city, with connections everywhere.

Tristan Vance was especially notorious—known in high society as a smiling demon and a ruthless psychopath.

I texted my friend Harper to explain the whole situation.

[What happens if Daddy catches Mom and me?] I asked.

She replied almost instantly.

[To put it bluntly, you guys are screwed. He’s going to ruin your lives.]

Worried, I typed back, [Will he do the same thing Mom did to him? Keep him hungry and thirsty, slap him until his face is bruised, and make him cry and beg for food every day while he just smiles like an idiot and thanks her?]

[Yes. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.]

[So no cake, no candy, no meat? And we can’t go outside, just get locked in a basement?]

[Exactly.]

It sounded terrifying.

In my memory, Mom was the strong one, and Daddy was the fragile, beautiful one.

I couldn’t bridge the gap between him and the villain on TV.

Harper completely shattered my reality with her next text.

[He was faking it. Playing weak was just his way of biding his time.]

[Now that he has his power back, his next step is brutal revenge.]

I patted my little chest.

[Thank goodness he has amnesia.]

I sent Harper a video clip of the news interview so she could analyze it.

A few seconds later, she sent a wall of text.

[I watched the whole clip. First impression: the guy has flawless bone structure and pale skin. Even with that terrifying expression, he’s stunning—he looks like a high-end ball-jointed doll.]

[But looking closely at his micro-expressions…]

[Analyzing all the details, he has nothing but pure hatred and intense disgust for the woman who kept him captive. There’s zero hidden tenderness, guilt, or secret love there.]

It was all gibberish to me.

[Can you translate that for a four-year-old?] I asked.

Harper summarized it perfectly.

[Simply put: your dad abandoned you guys.]

I burst into tears.

Mom was outside in the yard watering the plants while I sat indoors sobbing silently for ten minutes.

Clenching my little fists, I looked at my piggy bank and made a solemn vow.

“I’m going to find Mom a much better husband.”
