My Fiance Has Been Married For Six Years Behind My Back Chapter 03

My Fiance Has Been Married For Six Years Behind My Back Chapter 03

Elowen’s condition stabilized for a while under the imported medication.

It was just enough to give me hope-and just enough to keep me from calling off the wedding.

Until three days before it.

Delphine showed up at the hospital.

The bottle slipped from my hand and shattered against the floor.

Elowen looked up at her, one hand resting gently over Delphine’s stomach, her eyes soft.

“Delphine… I hope your baby grows up healthy.”

Delphine glanced at me, a faint, satisfied smile tugging at her lips.

“Of course. I want him to be strong, happy-everything a child should be.”

“But for that to happen… he needs a complete family. Doesn’t he?”

Elowen’s eyes filled instantly.

“You’re right. I don’t want him to grow up like my sister and me… without a father.”

I turned away, biting down on my fist, but the tears came anyway.

“She understands it,” Delphine’s voice drifted after me, light and cutting. “Why don’t you?”

“I treated you like family. And you chose to ruin mine?”

I spun around.

The face in front of me was the one I had trusted for years.

“Why?” My voice broke into a hoarse shout. “Why would you do this? Why would you ruin both our lives over

something like that?”

Delphine examined her diamond-studded nails, utterly unfazed.

“Why?” she echoed, amused. “Because it was entertaining.”

She looked up, her gaze sharp with superiority.

“Didn’t I ever tell you? I’m the daughter of Crowe Holdings. Cassian and I were always a perfect match. What he has with you-”

She smiled faintly.

“-is just temporary.”

Her tone shifted, something darker slipping through.

“Though I didn’t expect him to go this far. Marrying two women at once?”

I opened my mouth to argue.

But the name-Crowe Holdings-cut through me like glass.

“The construction site where my dad died…” My voice trembled despite myself. “That was yours?”

Delphine blinked, as if recalling something trivial. Then she laughed.

“Oh. That?”

“Yes. It was ours.”

“And Cassian told you he got justice for it, right?” She shrugged. “Why would he go against my family for an

outsider?”

“You actually believed that?”

My legs gave out beneath me.

I stumbled back, my vision blurring as tears spilled over.

Cold. Everything felt cold.

My father’s death. Our ruined lives. All of it-because of her family.

And she had stood beside me back then, pretending to comfort me.

To them, I had always been a joke.

My hands clenched so tightly my nails bit into my skin.

“Delphine… I’m going to make you pay.”

If I could find the evidence from back then-if I could prove it-

She grabbed my wrist, her grip tightening.

“Nerissa. Don’t embarrass yourself.”

I shook her off and shoved her back.

The door burst open at that exact moment.

Cassian rushed in, his expression darkening instantly as he saw us.

“Delphine!”

She fell to the floor with perfect timing, clutching her stomach, her voice breaking into sobs.

“Cassian… the baby… our baby…”

“I just came to see Elowen,” she cried. “But she tried to throw me out-she even tried to hurt my child…”

Her tears came easily, her voice trembling just enough.

And suddenly, I was the villain.

Cassian turned to me, his eyes blazing red-

Smack.

The sound rang sharp in the room.

My head snapped to the side.

“Nerissa,” he said, his voice shaking with anger. “She’s your best friend. She’s pregnant.”

“When did you become this vicious?”

He pulled Delphine into his arms, holding her protectively. Then he looked at me again-like I was something

beyond saving.

“If anything happens to the baby, I won’t let you off.”

He didn’t wait for my response.

He carried her out.

And I collapsed onto the floor.

For a long time, I didn’t move.

Then slowly, something hardened inside me.

I would find the evidence. I would make them answer for everything.

That same day, the doctor called. Her voice was urgent, strained.

“The specialist team just left the country. And the imported medication has been pulled.”

“Ms. Hale, your sister doesn’t have time to wait.”

The world tilted.

I nearly lost my footing.

In the end, only one thought remained.

Cassian.

I called him. Twice. He never picked up.

So I went to his place.

I had no other choice.

The door wasn’t locked.

I pushed it open.

Clothes were scattered across the floor.

And on the couch-Cassian had Delphine pinned beneath him, kissing her like nothing else existed.

Her fingers traced along his throat, her voice low and teasing.

“Tell me… who’s better? Me, or her?”

His eyes were dark, feverish as he kissed her again.

“Does she even compare to you?”

I already knew.

I knew they had betrayed me.

But seeing it-seeing the man I had loved for three years and the woman I had trusted just as long tangled together right in front of me-still shattered something inside my chest.

Cassian noticed me then. His brows drew together, irritation flashing across his face.

“Get out.”

I didn’t move.

My body felt stiff, hollow.

“Please,” I said, my voice barely holding together. “Save Elowen.”

“I’ll do anything.”
