He let out a cold snort and left the warehouse with his men, never looking

back.

A long time passed. I finally managed to use my good left hand to dig a small tracker out of my bra and press the button.

My most trusted contact arrived soon

after.

When he saw me, his eyes instantly

reddened.

He carefully pulled the dagger free.

My right hand was a mangled ruin. I couldn’t feel a thing.

My voice was low, but my words were

clear.

“Burn it. Burn this whole place to the ground.”

“From this day on, there is no Elodie in Las Vegas.”

Alaric stayed by the VIP ward, waiting for Chloe to wake up.

“Alaric…” Her voice was weak, her body still trembling.

Alaric held her hand, wiping the sweat from her forehead.

“I’m sorry. I failed to protect you.”

Chloe shook her head faintly, a memory surfacing.

“The woman who was with me… what happened to her? Is she okay?”

Alaric’s expression darkened. He didn’t

answer.

“You’re too trusting. I won’t let something

like this happen again.”

He patted Chloe’s back gently, waiting until she drifted back to sleep before

turning to his subordinate.

“Clear out the villa on the mountain.”

“Get rid of anything that shouldn’t be there. Chloe will move in after she’s

discharged.””

The subordinate nodded and handed him

a document.

“This is the compensation for Elodie.”

“As you instructed, two casinos and twenty percent of the company shares have been transferred to her name.
