He Treated Me as a Servant but Begged Me Not to Leave Chapter 03

First year abroad, Landon and I were strangers under the same roof.

Every time his new friends came over and asked who I was, Landon said, “The help.”

Overseas, he had even more options, but he turned everyone down.

He’d wave his phone and say he had a girlfriend.

That’s when it hit me — he’d made things official with Chloe the night before we left.

A time difference of over twelve hours couldn’t stop them.

But long-distance couples always ran into problems.

Gradually, their fights became a regular thing — but they always found their way back to each other.

Second year abroad, Landon started being decent to me sometimes.

He couldn’t stand the food outside, so he’d come back to eat what I cooked.

But that was it.

Around the same time, Chloe and Landon’s relationship fell apart.

Chloe didn’t trust him. Landon thought she was being unreasonable.

The day they broke up, Landon drank a lot.

When he was drunk, he clung to me and wouldn’t stop pouring his heart out.

I was busy and didn’t want to listen.

But I turned around, saw that heart-stopping face, and my heart softened. I stayed.

One thing led to another, and I ended up in Landon’s bed.

Relax.

Nothing happened.

He looked horrified and kept double-checking that I was okay with it.

After that, he started avoiding me.

One night I got up to use the bathroom and caught him video-calling Chloe, showing off his abs.

They’d gotten back together.

Third year, Landon and Chloe broke up for good.

He never learned his lesson—got completely wasted again and pulled me into bed.

His face was flushed, he was burning up.

He whined at me, grabbed my hand, and made me feel his abs.

I caved. And honestly? Who could blame me?

That night was a total mess.

Morning sunlight hit the hickeys scattered across his chest.

This time, anyone with half a brain could tell exactly what had gone down.

He stared at my face for a long time without speaking.

I pulled on my clothes and said, “I’ll just write this off as a stupid mistake…”

“Blair. I’ll do right by you. .”

I looked at him, shocked.

That face—it was stupidly gorgeous no matter when you saw it.

I swallowed and said, “You really don’t have to…”

It’s not like I didn’t have a good time.

He wasn’t great at it, but the eye candy alone made it totally worth it.

Right then, his phone went off with that special ringtone he’d set just for Chloe.

A few seconds later, to my surprise, he rejected Chloe’s call. Right in front of me.

“Blair. Let’s give this a try.”

Soft sunlight made him look so handsome and gentle—like the prince I’d imagined as a kid when I was locked in that pigpen, dreaming of my very own prince charming who’d come to save me.

Before I even knew it, I heard myself breathe,

“Okay.”
