The Fake Heiress Took My Name, My Family, and My Fiancé Chapter 02

I didn’t have time to think. Gritting through the pain, I ripped the bat away and smashed it against a window.

Bang!

Glass shattered, followed by screams from the guests.

The doors swung open. A well-dressed couple rushed out. “What’s going on?”

I recognized them immediately, my biological parents.

Before Mira or Derek could speak, I said, “My name is Sage Sullivan.”

That one sentence made my father’s face change. “How do you know that name?”

Twenty-two years ago, when the Sullivan heiress was born, some psychic passed through and said her destiny was fragile. To fix it, she couldn’t be around anyone outside the family until she was seven. And she couldn’t tell anyone her real name until she turned eighteen.

So no one knew the heiress’s original name was Sage Sullivan. No one except the Sullivans, including Sage herself, who got lost.

“It’s my name,” I said, looking at Mira with a smile. “Why wouldn’t I know it? The question is, why is this so-called Miss Sullivan so desperate to get rid of me the second she lays eyes on me?”

All eyes landed on Mira.

Derek immediately shielded her. “Mr. and Mrs. Sullivan, are you really going to listen to some random woman? Mira’s been through hell. She lost her memory. Maybe she just slipped up and said her name somewhere along the way.”

Mira found her confidence. She shoved her arm forward, showing a scar. “What about the scar I got saving my brother? That’s gotta count for something, right? So she knows the name. Who cares? Can she show you this?”

Before anyone could react, Mira lunged at me.

I pushed her away instinctively, but she yanked off my jacket, exposing my smooth, unmarked arm.

“Well, you little brat, what do you have to say now?” my mother snapped, glaring at me with hostility.

I pulled my jacket back on. “That thing was hideous, so yeah, I had it lasered off. And Mira? That scar of yours? Why don’t you tell everyone exactly how you got it and where?”

Mira’s face went rigid. “A burn. It was a burn. My brother took me camping, and I got too close to the fire. It was an accident.”

I laughed and shook my head. “Wrong. Someone tricked me into going into the woods. My brother came to find me and ended up lost. He started a fire to stay warm, but he didn’t see it spread to a dead branch. I took that branch for him.”

“Oh, and by the way, there’s a mole behind my ear and a butterfly-shaped birthmark on my shoulder.”

I pulled down my jacket, showing the marks, then looked at Mira’s pale face with a smirk. “What a shame. Whatever you have, I have too.”

Zachary Sullivan, who’d just arrived, froze when he heard this.

My parents looked at him. He was silent for a moment, then nodded. “She’s right.”

My mother swayed, almost fainting. “Then… then which one is my daughter?”

Seeing my parents waver, Mira rushed forward. “Dad. Mom. You’re really going to believe some stranger?”

“Don’t forget, I came to you with the locket, and we did the DNA tests. Today’s supposed to be my and Derek’s big day, and this woman shows up to steal my identity. Who knows what she really wants?”

Her frantic words steadied my parents again.

“Right. We did do the DNA test,” my mother murmured.
