Scammed at My Sister’s Restaurant Chapter 06

Chapter 6 The Truth

I did not hold back with my slap. Selina’s head turned sideways, and her cheek started to swell.

That slap caught her off guard, and so did everyone else. She put a hand on her swollen cheek. When she looked at me again, her eyes were filled with disbelief and humiliation. “H-How dare you…”

“That was a wake up call.” My voice was cold enough to freeze fire. I scanned the whole crowd before returning to Selina again. “I’m sure you think that the princess of the Grayheims owns this place.”

No one said anything. I smiled, but it never reached my eyes. “You think so too, don’t you, Selina? You think that you should own everything because it’s your birthright. This villa, the supercars, the company’s shares, and that black card with an unlimited credit I gave you.”

Selina said nothing, but with how defiant her gaze was, that was enough.

“Have you ever wondered why our father gave me 90% of the company’s shares when he obviously likes you more? Have you ever wondered why I cleared all the obstacles and problems in your life when I’m just your brother? Ever wondered why I always spoiled you and let you have whatever you wanted?”

My questions left her stunned and silent. Perhaps these questions did cross her mind once, but she ignored them and accepted the gift of life like it were a matter of fact.

She was confused and embarrassed now. I made my decision. I would tell her the truth. The cruel reality I’d kept hidden from her for more than ten years.

“The answer is… you’re not part of this family. You’re a mistake my father made years ago. Your mother is insignificant enough; she did not make it into the family tree. Which means you are a bastard, in the literal sense of the word.”

The answer came quietly, yet it exploded in the minds of the people around us. Selina now froze up like an ice statue.

Her pupils dilated, and her jaw slacked. She stared at me like I’d just grown three heads.

“W-What?”

I repeated myself, slower this time. “You. Are. A. Bastard.” Then, I continued, “You were three when our father took you home. Our grandfather nearly had a heart attack when he found out. He wanted to kick you and your mother out.”

I pointed at myself. “But I begged him to keep you, at least. ‘The girl is innocent!’ I told him. I promised him I would keep an eye on you and educate you so you would never embarrass the family.

“I begged both of them to keep your pedigree a secret just so you could live as part of the family. Just so no one would call you a bastard.”

That was not the end. “I saw you as my own sister and gave you the best. I spoiled you because you

needed a father’s love, and there was no one else to give it. I thought love and material indulgences would be enough to fill the void within you. I thought you would grow into a kind, righteous, and God-

fearing woman.”

Selina’s face was starting to twist from fear and shock.

I laughed at myself. “But I was wrong. Dead wrong. The sister I raised is nothing but an ungrateful wretch.

She staggered backward, and she crashed into a coffee table. It groaned. She shook her head in denial.” No, no, no. This is a lie! That’s bullshit!”

“Then, go home and ask Grandpa all about it.” I looked at her coldly and crushed the last sliver of her hope. “But I don’t think he has time for you now.”
