I Planned to Announce My Pregnancy, Boyfriend and Bestie Announced Their Wedding Chapter 06

[Elena’s POV]

The screen behind me lit up.

“Nathan, will we be together forever?”

My voice filled the room.

Then Nathan appeared on-screen, pulling me into his arms and kissing my forehead.

“Of course. I’ll never marry anyone but Elena Reyes.”

Vivian’s bridal bouquet slipped from her hand and hit the floor, scattering a few petals.

Nathan froze, then strode toward me and grabbed my arm without warning.

“What are you doing?!”

“Don’t touch me!”

I shoved him off with everything I had.

The video kept playing as both sets of parents’ faces darkened.

The video laid out every moment of our five years together for everyone to see.

It showed us holding hands when we were young and shy, then clinging to each other at the height of our love.

It showed every New Year’s Eve when he had slipped away to find me and make promises about our future, and every illness when he had stayed by my side to care for me.

Every clip was proof that he had once loved me.

Then two documents appeared side by side.

A pregnancy report from my OB-GYN read: eight weeks pregnant, fetal heartbeat detected, viable pregnancy.

The other was an abortion procedure record confirming that the early intrauterine pregnancy had been terminated.

Vivian lunged at the screen.

“Turn it off! Turn it off!”

She pounded on the screen like a wild animal while Nathan restrained her from behind.

His bloodshot eyes locked on me.

“Elena Reyes, do you have to ruin Vivi’s life?”

Even then, he was worried about Vivian, not his own reputation.

Nathan’s parents stared at the screen. They pulled Nathan and Vivian apart.

“Is this true? Were you really dating Elena? Then why did you suddenly marry Vivi? What the hell is going on?”

Pat staggered and nearly lost her balance before rushing over to grab Vivian’s arm.

“Vivi, you told me you’d been with Nathan for a long time! You said Elena was trying to steal him from you!”

Her eyes reddened with disbelief.

The final clip was an audio recording.

Vivian’s voice came through loud and clear.

“I know you’ve been dating Nathan.”

“Just this once—let me have him. Okay?”

Everyone froze, Nathan included.

I’d recorded it by accident.

That day, I’d kept my phone recording because I wanted to capture Nathan’s reaction when he learned about the baby.

Instead, I recorded Vivian’s confession.

Guests were filming everything with their phones.

The neighbors who’d looked down on me at the gate now looked at me with pity.

Some people whispered just loudly enough for everyone to hear.

“So Vivian was the other woman all along.”

“Poor Elena. Her mom died because of those lies…”

“Nathan Hayes is trash.”

Nathan’s parents couldn’t take it. They glared at Nathan, then fled the venue, covering their faces.

Their formal clothes only made their humiliation look more absurd.

Nathan stood frozen, watching the screen where Vivian had faked a fall.

Vivian lunged at me, grabbing my collar.

“Elena Reyes! Why are you doing this to me?!”

I pushed her off and slapped her again.

“Vivian Chandler, my mom died because of you. Why do you think I’m doing this?”

Pat rushed in front of her.

“Elena, don’t blame Vivi. She… she had no choice.”

Before she could finish, Vivian collapsed.

Nathan dropped to his knees, cradling her.

“Vivi! Wake up!”

I stood there, hollow inside.

“Nathan.”

I let the last tear fall.

“I hope the two of you are happy.”

I turned and walked out of the ballroom.

Behind me, Pat frantically shouted for someone to call 911.

I took a car straight to Eldridge Regional Airport, boarded a plane, and left the town behind.

I left all that pain behind in Eldridge. It was time to begin a new life.
