Alphas’ Biggest Mistake Chapter 08

Alphas’ Biggest Mistake Chapter 08

Gune for good. Those words hit like a freight train.

So much so that Merrick and Kieran both stumbled back a step, their voices low and hollow.

“We were wrong… she’s never going to forgive us.”

Three years later, the Pack Tech Expo was in full swing, and thre awards ceremony was underway.

The project I’d worked on with Aurelius had finally succeeded. Our new smart tech had set a new benchmar in the world of pack innovation.

I hadn’t left the research facility in three full days.

Everything about this foreign country was unfamiliar, yet I’d never felt safer.

After the ceremony, some colleagues insisted on taking me out to celebrate. It had been so long since I’d gone anywhere, so I agreed.

What I didn’t expect was to see Merrick and Kieran outside. They’d clearly been waiting.

Their once sharp and arrogant features were dulled by exhaustion, and their bodies looked thinner, worn down. Even from a distance, it was clear they hadn’t been doing well.

It had been so long that they felt like strangers.

The moment I stepped out, they walked straight toward me. But their lips trembled for a long time before either could speak.

I was the first to break the silence. “What are you doing here?”

Kieran’s voice was hoarse, laced with bitterness.

“We messed up. We just wanted to say we’re sorry… and ask how you’ve been.”

He paused, hesitating before continuing.

“Your mom… Luna, she wants to see you. She hopes you’ll come home. Come with me, okay?”

It was the first time he’d ever asked me to come back. But it meant nothing now.

I didn’t even look at them. My voice stayed calm.

“I’ll handle things with my mother myself But I’m not going back with you. ”

Merrick stepped forward, reaching for my hand, but I pulled away before he could touch me.

That tiny rejection hit him like a bullet

“Fenrisa, just hear us out, please. Everything started because of me, I know that I was wrong But it was Lope, she’s the one who took it too far Everything that happened after that was all her

“I had her committed. She’s in a psych ward now. I swear, if you give me another chance, I’ll never hurt you

gain.”

I shook my head.

“No. We were a mistake from the start.”

Even though I’d barely stepped out of the lab in years, I’d still heard about them.

I knew they’d come looking for me more than once. They’d waited outside in the rain, in the cold, over and

over.

I just chose to pretend I never saw them. There was no hatred left in me.

At some point, someone mailed me a bracelet. It was almost identical to the one my grandmother gave me.

But it wasn’t the same.

No matter how similar it looked, it didn’t carry her warmth.

I never saw Kieran or Merrick again. I heard their lives didn’t go so well.

But that had nothing to do with me anymore. I’d let it all go.

Now, all that mattered was living for myself.

Becoming the best version of who I was meant to be.
