Everyone Knew But Me The Day My Boyfriend Married His Other Girlfriend Chapter 05

When I woke up, a sharp pain tore through my chest.

It felt as if the slightest movement would rip the wound open again.

I struggled to sit up.

Julian immediately leaned forward and steadied me.

“Sienna, tell me what you need. I’ll do it. Your wound hasn’t fully healed yet. Don’t move around.”

He carefully adjusted the hospital bed until I was comfortable.

Then he picked up his phone and called his company.

“Sienna’s hurt. I can’t leave her with a hired nurse. I need to be here.”

“David, I won’t be in for a few days. Tell the managers to handle things for a few days.”

I didn’t care what he was saying.

I only wanted to know one thing.

Was my mom okay? Did they save her?

Ignoring the searing pain in my chest, I tried to get up.

Dr. Bennett walked in, his face dark with anger.

“I’ve told you repeatedly that Paula Rhodes’s condition was critical. She could go at any moment. She needed constant supervision.”

“You family members are unbelievable. How could you leave a terminal patient alone? When we found her, she had no vital signs.
Her body was already stiff.”

Julian Carter stared at him, frozen.

He’d been so focused on saving Sienna, he’d forgotten about her mother.

She was gone. Just like that.

He wrapped his arms around me, rubbing my back, soothing me.

“Sienna, don’t blame yourself. It happened so fast. It’s not your fault.”

“Let it out. Just cry.”

Even now, he thought mom’s death was just an accident.

I slapped him. Hard.

The wound in my chest burst open. Pain shot through my chest.

Through the pain, I smiled bitterly at him.

“Julian Carter. Do you know why I tried to stab Vanessa Moore?”

“Because she walked into my mother’s hospital room and told her I was a homewrecker. She deliberately provoked her.”

“And then—when my mom needed help, she blocked me. She made sure I couldn’t call for help. I watched my mom die right in front of me.”

“She killed my mom. I’m going to kill her!”

“No—no way. Vanessa isn’t like that—”

The defense came automatically.

But as soon as the words left his mouth, uncertainty flickered across his face.

Vanessa had always been gentle.

But why had Vanessa been in Paula’s hospital room?

And when I stabbed myself—

Why hadn’t Mom tried to stop me?

A mother who loved her daughter that much would never have remained silent.

Unless she was already…

If Vanessa was there when Paula died, she’d definitely be a suspect.

He frowned.

Everything had happened so fast that he’d never stopped to question it.

He’d missed a lot.

Now that he thought about it, something was definitely off.
