Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 08

Cruel Captive Experiment on My Anniversary Chapter 08 Tide and Retribution

My daughter and I found a quiet life in a Sandy Creek fishing village.

The locals were kind, never prying, only concerned with our comfort and well-being.

An excellent orthopedie doctor on the island tended to our wounds-the legacy of our past.

New skin had formed over my daughter’s hand, and the hollows in my chest were slowly closing.

That morning, we sat on a rocky ledge, fishing.

The sea wind, fresh and salty, swept the shadows from our hearts.

My daughter wore a soft pink dress, her hair lit like a halo in the sun-a little angel reborn.

“Mom, the float!”

She pointed at the water, her voice bubbling with excitement. I reached for the rod-then froze. Two voices, achingly familiar, cut through the calm.

“Mom! Lila!”

“Serena! My little girl!”

I spun, instinctively pulling my daughter behind me.

There they stood-Adrian and Ethan, ragged and hollow-eyed, their faces worn with exhaustion and regret.

“Please… come back.”

Adrian dropped to his knees on the sharp rocks, the jagged edges cutting into his flesh. He didn’t even seem to feel it.

“For four years, I’ve regretted it every single day. Every night is a nightmare…”

Then Ethan knelt, clutching the ruby necklace.

“Mom, this is the one I gave to Auntie back then. Now I took this back from her. I know I was wrong. Please forgive me.”

I watched them grovel, a cold laugh on my lips.

“You feel regret now? Where was this when you locked us in cages? When you fed us dog food?”

“I was blind! Lydia poisoned my mind!”

Adrian pressed a trembling fist against his chest. “I’ll give my life to atone!”

“Atone?” My hand cracked across his face. “You let dogs tear me apart. You let them flay Lila’s hand. You think you can atone for that?”

Adrian’s head snapped to the side from my slap, but didn’t flinch away. “I deserve it…”

“You’re both monsters!” I shoved them away. “So eager to please a stranger you tortured your own family. Adrian, you’re not a man. Ethan, you’ve lost the right to call me ‘Mom”.”

Seeing my resolve, they turned to my trembling daughter. “Lila… Daddy is so sorry…”

“Get away!” Lila shrieked, hiding behind me. “You’re monsters! You’re so evil!”

“Bullying a child on our shore?” The fisherinen on the shore stirred.

These weathered Sandy Creek men lived by a simple code-you protect those who can’t protect themselves.

“Boys, let’s give them a bath!” A burly man growled.

“You got it!” A chorus of agreement echoed.

Two men hoisted Adrian and Ethan by their ankles and hurled them into the churning sea.

Two splashes. Cold, deep, and final.

“Let’s go,” I said, taking my daughter’s hand, without a backward glance.

Behind us, Adrian’s plea was torn away by the wind, “I’ll make it right… I swear…”

The sea breeze carried the rest away.

And this time, I finally learned not to look back.
