He Skipped Our Wedding License 10 Times but Married My Bestie Chapter 07

Derrick couldn’t understand what could have made me this angry.

In his memory, I had always been gentle and sweet

Suddenly, a phone buzzed on the ruined sofa.

Derrick lunged across the room to grab it.

When he saw the caller ID, a wave of disappointment washed over him.

“Holy shit, Derek, why did it take you so long to pick up? The group chat is completely blowing up right now!”

Derrick frowned, his voice cold. “What are you talking about?”

“Man, just look at the chat history yourself. Nevaeh found out about our secret.”

The phone slipped through Derrick’s fingers.

With a sharp crack, the screen shattered into a spiderweb of cracks.

Only Derrick knew exactly what that “secret” meant

Ignoring the sharp sting of glass slicing into his palm, he picked up the phone with trembling

hands.

The glitched, flickering screen reflected his pale face.

Derrick opened the group chat, and as he scrolled through my messages to his friends, the last shred of his denial dissolved.

Nevaeh: [Here’s to Derrick and his precious Miss Chair-true loves forever, locked in eternal bliss, so the rest of us never have to deal with them again.]

Nevaeh: [And may they multiply like rabbits-two kids in year one, four by year three, eight by year five, until they’ve got enough for a full starting eleven. A whole soccer team.”

He couldn’t even read the messages that followed.

His vision went blurry, and breathing became an agonizing struggle.

Only one thought consumed his mind.

It was over.

She knew. She knew everything.

The bet, the spiked water that made her fall asleep during her exams, the lies, and the five years of

manipulation.

“Huh…” A hollow sound escaped his throat.

Derrick gripped the phone so hard his knuckles turned white, his blood dripping onto the debris on

the floor.

He felt as if an invisible hand had gripped his heart, squeezing and tearing at it until his entire body

shook uncontrollably.

The detached look in my eyes before I left, and the words he had dismissed-Don’t, it’s dirty-had been my final goodbye.

I didn’t want him anymore.

I had even left a blessing for him and Saylor.

“Haha… haha…” He let out a low, ragged laugh, completely mocking himself as hot tears finally spilled over his red-rimmed eyes.

He raised his hand and slammed a brutal backhand across his own face.

Again. And again.

He didn’t stop until his arm grew too exhausted to lift.

“Nevaeh…” he whispered, sobbing my name as the strength drained from his body, leaving him slumped amidst the ruins of the apartment.

He had genuinely believed that staying with me for five years was just a chore born out of guilt.

But why did his chest hurt this badly?

The pain was so excruciating that it drove him mad with longing-for the clean scent of my laundry soap, the warmth of me curled up in his arms, and the way my eyes used to light up over the smallest gestures…

He had lost me completely.

It wasn’t that he had finished his game and discarded me.

I was the one who didn’t want him anymore.
