I Back to the Future, My Alpha Regrets Me in the Past Chapter 07

I Back to the Future, My Alpha Regrets Me in the Past Chapter 07

I returned to the future and to my parents.

Five days in the future equaled five years in Ryan’s world.

When Mom and Dad saw the wounds covering my body, their hearts broke.

“Rachel, where have you been all this time? How did you end up covered in injuries?”

“Your mother searched for you for days. Couldn’t reach you at all. We were worried sick.”

The moment I saw them, I threw myself into their arms and sobbed.

“Mom, Dad, I’m fine. Just went out for a few days. See? I’m right here, safe and sound.”

The future had rapid healing tech. My parents treated every scar on my body until they disappeared.

The wounds on my heart couldn’t be fixed that quickly. But time would heal them eventually.

I thought life would just go on like this. That Ryan would never appear again.

Then one day, Mason’s voice broke through.

“Rachel, Ryan has been searching for you obsessively. He spent twenty years figuring out how to communicate with the future. Under the laws of temporal development, we can’t stop him. He’s gradually learned everything about you.”

“He’s requesting communication. Repeatedly. Will you accept?”

I blinked, surprised. I hadn’t expected Ryan to reach the future.

My answer was flat. “No.”

“But he’s sending requests over and over. If this continues too long, it could interfere with the timeline.”

“My recommendation is to just tell him to stop. Give him a definitive answer and be done with it.”

I considered Mason’s advice and finally agreed.

Ryan hadn’t actually traveled to the future. It was just a phone call bridging the gap in time.

“Rachel, I finally get to see you again. How have you been? I found out you’re from the future. That’s incredible. Time machines, time travel, all of it is real.”

“Thank God you didn’t truly disappear. I can still reach you.”

“Rachel, I miss you so much. Can you come back to my time?”

Listening to his voice, I frowned instinctively. I had zero desire to respond.

“Rachel, let me explain. Zoe meant nothing. She was just about closing an old chapter for me. You’re the one I love. You’ve always been the one.”

The one he loved? He was still lying to me. Even now.

“So to close your chapter, you marked her? Gave her a marking ceremony the entire city knew about?”

He went silent. He’d assumed I didn’t know.

“Rachel… you knew about that?”

“Listen to me. That ceremony was a sham. It was just a promise I made to her years ago, and I fulfilled it. I already rejected Zoe as my mate. Please, just give me one more chance.”

I turned and looked at him, my gaze cold and empty.

“I don’t want to give you another chance. Not now. Not ever.”

“The moment you hurt me, any possibility between us died.”

“And when you cut that fabric to pieces? You cut me to pieces. Did you know that?”

At those words, Ryan broke down crying again.

He understood now. Every cut he’d made to the fabric was a cut he’d made to me.

“I’m sorry, Rachel. I’m the one who hurt you. Every ounce of pain you suffered, I wish I could take it all onto myself.”

I didn’t look at him.

“That’s enough. We’re from different worlds.”

Panic surged through his voice.

“Rachel, wait. Don’t go. Do you really never want to see me again?”

“Yes. You should know by now. You’re the last person in any world I want to see.”

The loss hit him like a tide. Tears streamed down his face.

“I know. I know my mistakes can’t be forgiven. You’re never going to forgive me.”

“I don’t care what world you’re from. It’s always been you. That never changed.”

I cut the call. A connection that had bridged time itself, severed in an instant. I had no interest in listening to a liar any longer.

Mason sounded almost wistful beside me.

“Rachel, do you want to see what his life looks like now? See how miserable he’s become?”

I smiled and waved him off.

“No thanks. I’m not interested. And don’t bring him up again.”

From now on, I would live well in the future. I would forget him completely.

Because for someone like Ryan, being forgotten was the cruelest punishment of all.

He would have to suffer worse than I did before I’d ever consider it an apology, but that doesn’t matter anymore.
