Everyone Wanted Me Dead After Watching One Video Chapter 05

In the recording, Officer Carter looked at my mother with barely-contained fury and asked, “Mrs. Harrison, we’ve confirmed that you and Grace Harrison are biologically mother and daughter.

What possible reason could you have for beating your own child like this?”

My mother just laughed that same hollow laugh.

Officer Carter slammed her hand on the table. “Someone like you doesn’t deserve to be a mother! If you didn’t want her, you shouldn’t have had her! What’s the point of bringing a child into the world

just to abuse her?”

The shout seemed to startle my mother. For the first time, she said something resembling remorse. “You’re right. I don’t deserve to be a mother. I wish I’d never had her.”

Then, my mother gestured for Officer Carter to come closer, just like she had with everyone else,

and showed her the video on her phone.

Officer Carter’s reaction was the same as all the others: her pupils dilated in shock. After watching,

the interrogation room fell dead silent.

After a long pause, Officer Carter stepped forward and unlocked my mother’s handcuffs. “You’re free to go. There’s nothing more here.”

My mother was released without charges.

Watching this scene, I felt neither shock nor hysteria, only a numb calm.

When I saw Officer Carter again a week later, she looked worn out and couldn’t meet my eyes.

I gave a light, understanding laugh and comforted her. “It’s okay.”

This outcome was something I had already expected.

A month later, my body had fully recovered. I was discharged and went home. My parents were sitting on the couch. My father was beaming, his hand resting tenderly on my mother’s slightly

swollen belly.

This time, my mother ignored me completely. The beating I expected didn’t come.

I looked at her, my gaze settling on her stomach. “Mom… are you pregnant?”

Hearing me, she glanced sideways, her voice icy. “Get out.”

Then she turned her attention back to her belly, her interest in me gone. My father, afraid I’d upset her, snapped at me. “Don’t start trouble. If you harm your little sister in there, you’ll regret it!”

He was the picture of a doting husband, but my mother’s face showed no trace of a smile.

I stared at her stomach for a long moment, then asked my father, “Dad, what’s wrong with a brother? How do you know it’s a sister?”

He barely glanced my way, a faint frown touching his mouth. “A little girl is a father’s angel,” he said, his voice softening oddly. “There’s just… something special about daughters.”

Then his attention drifted back to her stomach, his hand resting there. His voice dropped to a murmur, almost talking to himself. “Can’t wait to meet my baby girl.”

It seemed he genuinely adored this unborn child.

In the following days, my father hired several housekeepers to care for my mother, taking every precaution for her, as an older mother, to carry the baby to term. And my mother never laid a hand

on me again.

Whenever we crossed paths, she’d just coldly tell me to “get out.” My father was just as eager to be rid of me. “Be smart and leave. Don’t you dare come around here stressing your mother out. Her well-being is the only thing that matters now.”

As they wished, I moved out the next day. I rented an apartment and started a life of my own.
