The Comments Said the Heartthrob Confessed Wrong, So I Rejected Him Chapter 06

Maybe I hadn’t been clear enough.

So I explained it again-slowly. From the flower mix-up yesterday to the breakfast run today.

Griffin listened. Really listened.

When I was done, I reached for the bag.

He dodged again. And this time, he grabbed my wrist.

His skin was warm against mine. I froze, then tried to pull away.

He held tight.

“So that’s why you wouldn’t add me?”

“I don’t like her. I only like-”

“Sage!”

Brynn’s voice rang out from the dorm entrance.

She’d made it out in under ten minutes. Fresh clothes, full makeup.

Her shirt was damp.

I looked closer. It was the one she’d told me to throw away.

She walked up, eyes flicking to where Griffin’s hand was wrapped around my wrist.

Then, smoothly, she slid me to her side.

Griffin let go.

“I’ve got this, Sage. Don’t you have a shift to get to?”

I wasn’t about to stick around. I left my phone behind and ran for the bus stop.

At the corner, I glanced back. Griffin had turned and walked the other way. Brynn reached for him.

Then pulled her hand back.

I looked away. They were clearly fighting.

And with those crazy comments, they’d find a way to blame me for it.

I was working all day, so I didn’t know what went down at the dorm.

But Saturday afternoon, Brynn and one of the other roommates had a blowout.

Bad enough that neither of them came back that night.

The one who stayed told me quietly:

“Brynn’s been insufferable lately. Snapping at all of us for no reason. We’re not her mom-we don’t have to put up with that crap.”

“I did some digging. A couple of seniors who actually know Griffin said they heard he’s got a girlfriend, but it’s not Brynn.”

According to the comments, Griffin and Brynn were supposed to end up together no matter what in/ the future.

So I didn’t worry.

What did bug me was Brynn still had my account. And she wasn’t answering my messages.

A few days later, she finally came back.

I opened my mouth to ask.

She spoke first.

“Tomorrow night. Griffin and I are taking both dorms out to dinner. Everyone’s coming, right?”
