His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 15

His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 15

“Valerie, you don’t need to visit me every single day. I’m doing much better, really.”

Summer’s spirits were low, and she lay in her hospital bed all day, refusing to move.

The Shaw family had no idea she lost her arm to save Valerie; every time they saw Valerie, they would express how fortunate Summer was to have such a wonderful friend.

But every time Valerie heard those words and looked at Summer’s empty sleeve, her tears would

fall uncontrollably.

“I’m so sorry, Summer. If it weren’t for me-

“Silly girl, it’s not your fault,” Summer managed a weak smile. “I heard Lily is going to prison.

That’s great. Consider it revenge for both of us.”

“Five years in prison is letting her off way too easy!”

A flash of pure hatred crossed Valerie’s eyes. “As for Jonathan, I won’t let him off either. Gavin is

already working on a hostile takeover of his company. Summer, I will get justice for you. I won’t let

either of them get away with this!”

“Don’t blame yourself. Have you forgotten? I’m naturally left-handed. Fortunately, it was my right

arm that was ruined, so I can still manage on my own.”

“Then why do you refuse to get out of bed and walk around?”

“There are too many children in the hospital. I’m afraid I’ll frighten them.”

Hearing this, Valerie broke into even louder sobs.

“Summer, I’m so sorry! I wish it were my arm that was gone! I will never forgive myself for the rest

of my life!”

She wrapped her arms around Summer, her entire body shaking as she wept.

Summer gently patted her back with her left hand. “It’s alright, Valerie. Don’t blame yourself. I

don’t blame you.”

“By the way, I probably won’t be able to attend your wedding, but you must be happy.”

As those words left Summer’s mouth, Valerie became completely choked with tears.

Upon leaving the hospital, Valerie lifted her gaze to the man beside her.

“Gavin, when are you going to make your move?”

‘I originally planned to wait until after the wedding, but if you want, I can have them start

immediately.”

“Then do it now. I can’t wait another second.”

Valerie clenched her fists tightly at her sides. “Jonathan caused Summer so much suffering, and he

drove my family into bankruptcy and caused my parents’ deaths in that other world. I will never let

him off!”

Gavin frowned, taking her hands into his with a serious expression. “You keep bringing up things that never actually happened in reality. Don’t tell me you traveled through time or something?”

Valerie smiled faintly. “What if it’s true? Would you still marry me?”

“We’re already legally married. Do you really think I’d back out now?”

Gavin pulled her into his embrace, his heart aching for her. “No matter what happens, I will always be by your side.”

Jonathan’s retribution arrived swiftly. One moment he was staring at a photo on his phone, and the next, his assistant burst into the office, his face pale with panic.

“Mr. James, someone is targeting our company.”

“Who?”

“It looks like Gavin Garrison,” the assistant said anxiously. “But I suspect it’s Valerie’s doing!”

Jonathan’s gaze fell to the image on his screen, which was a screenshot a friend had sent him.

Valerie and Gavin’s wedding invitations had already been sent out; in three days, they would be holding a grand ceremony at the largest cathedral in Capital City.

He never expected Valerie to be this ruthless.

He had already apologized. Wasn’t that enough?

Jonathan drove over to the Vance estate, desperate to see Valerie one last time.

It was pouring rain that night, but he didn’t even use an umbrella, standing exposed to the storm.

Under the streetlights, his shadow stretched out, long and utterly solitary.

The housekeepers came inside to report his presence several times, but Valerie ignored them

completely.

Eventually, Mrs. Vance couldn’t bear to watch any longer. “Why don’t you go see him and settle

things once and for all? Leaving it like this isn’t a solution. If he shows up to cause a scene on you wedding day, it won’t be good for you or Gavin.”
