His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 07

His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 07

Once the infant’s condition stabilized, Jonathan checked Lily out of the hospital.

Since it happened to be Lily’s birthday, he threw a celebration party for her at The Sapphire Lounge.

During the party, Jonathan kept his arm wrapped around her waist, addressing the crowd in the VIP

booth, “Listen up, everyone. Lily is my woman now. No one is allowed to make trouble for her in the

future.”

“Jonathan, how could we dare trouble our new sister-in-law?”

“Absolutely not. Since it’s her birthday, she can order whatever she wants. My treat!”

“Well, we certainly won’t bully her, but that crowd over there might be a different story.”

Someone gestured with their chin toward a booth not far away.

It was packed with stunning women, every single one of them a prominent, wealthy socialite from the city’s elite circle.

A sharp-eyed guest noticed that Valerie, who practically lived at The Sapphire Lounge, was conspicuously absent.

“Jonathan, I heard that to avenge your new girl, you punished the legal wife’s best friend?”

“You mean Summer Shaw? She’s Valerie’s absolute favorite person. That was a brutal move-

targeting the friend hurts far more than hitting Valerie directly.”

“Alright, let’s not bring her up today.”

Jonathan cut them off, leaning back against the sofa to drink.

Though Lily was nestled in his arms, his gaze kept drifting toward that distant booth.

Not only was Valerie missing, but Summer wasn’t there either.

Ever since waking from her three-year coma, Valerie had changed completely.

Before the accident, whenever Jonathan worked late, the living room light would always be left on.

No matter how late it was, she would happily head to the kitchen to cook him a bowl of noodles,

complete with a perfectly fried egg.

He loved her home-brewed coffee, so she would wake up thirty minutes early every single morning just to brew it for him.

By the time he got out of bed, his clothes for the day would be meticulously laid out, his suit and

shirt pressed flawlessly with a carefully matched tie.

But since she woke up, she hadn’t spared a single thought for his needs.

She never waited up, never cooked, never brewed coffee, and never selected his outfits.

Even when she caught him in bed with Lily, her face hadn’t shown a flicker of emotion.

It had infuriated him to the point of demanding what kind of game she was playing, telling her to just voice her grievances.

Yet the old Valerie, who could never tolerate a single flaw, had merely smiled. “I have no grievances. After all, I was asleep for three years. Three years is a terribly long time for a man. I don’t blame you for finding a stand-in.” ·

She had given him his freedom, so he ought to be thrilled.

Yet sitting here now, he didn’t feel particularly happy at all.

“Jonathan, what are you thinking about?”

Beside him, Lily noticed his distraction, her birthday smile faltering slightly.

“It’s nothing. Look, the cake is here.”

Jonathan set his glass down and ordered the staff to light the candles.

As the candlelight flickered, Lily closed her eyes to make a wish.

The crowd clapped, teasing, “What did you wish for, birthday girl?”

“Are you stupid? Her wish is obviously to stay by Jonathan’s side forever!”

“Does she even need to wish for that? They’re already together!”

As the commotion grew louder, Valerie’s circle of friends from the neighboring booth began walking over, their high heels clicking sharply against the floor.
