His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 06

The hound facility?

He had actually sent Summer to a dog training facility?

Summer’s absolute worst fear was dogs!

Valerie gritted her teeth, dragged herself up from the floor, and ran out of the hospital without looking back.

Seeing Jonathan let Summer off so easily, Lily pouted with a hint of grievance.

“Jonathan, it seems Mrs. James is still the most important person in your heart after all. If it weren’t for her, her friend wouldn’t have dared treat me that way…”

“I know.”

Jonathan reached out to stroke her long hair. “I will get justice for you.”

“Once Valerie reaches the facility, saving her friend won’t be that simple.”

Lily understood instantly. Jonathan intended to punish Valerie too.

She feigned worry. “If you do this to Mrs. James, won’t she be heartbroken?”

Jonathan seemed distracted. “Should I send men to stop her then?”

Lily playfully punched his chest. “Stop it!”

Jonathan held her and laughed, though the warmth never reached his eyes.

In truth, he didn’t want to hurt Valerie, but he couldn’t allow Lily to suffer further harm. If Valerie did get hurt, he would find a way to make it up to her later.

He simply wanted her to learn that everything had a limit.

At the facility, when Valerie arrived, Summer was curled inside a cage, barely breathing.

Outside the enclosure, three massive, muscular wolfdogs stared fixedly at her. Starved for days, saliva dripped from their sharp teeth as they paced irritably around the cage.

Summer had completely broken down. Deprived of food and water for two days under constant psychological terror, she was right on the brink of collapse.

“Summer!”

Valerie wept as she approached. The moment she took a step forward, the wolves locked their gazes onto her, looking ready to pounce at any second.

She knew she couldn’t just rush in blindly, or they would both be torn to pieces.

“Summer, hang on! I’ll buy some meat nearby to distract them! You have to hold on!”

Summer used the last ounce of her strength to reach out through the bars. “Don’t leave… Valerie… I’m dying…”

“You won’t die! Summer! I won’t let you die!”

A violent wave of panic crashed over Valerie. Her eyes bloodshot, she grabbed a heavy wooden club from the ground, gritted her teeth, and charged at the wolves.

The pack lunged at her simultaneously. She swung the club, fighting them off frantically.

Soon, sharp claws tore bloody gashes across her arms and legs, sending waves of searing pain through her body.

Ignoring the agony, she managed to reach the iron cage and unlocked it.

“Summer, we have to go!”

Valerie hauled up her limp friend and sprinted toward the main gates.

Stumbling and bleeding, they finally reached the exit, only to discover the massive gate had been locked from the outside.

No matter how hard Valerie threw herself against it, it wouldn’t budge.

“Open the door! Who’s out there? Jonathan! Open the door! Please open it!”

Valerie pounded on the metal, screaming in pure desperation.

A bodyguard’s cold voice drifted from the other side, “Apologies, ma’am. This is the master’s order. Please endure it a little longer.”

Jonathan’s order!

Her grip on the club tightened until her knuckles turned white, a flash of pure hatred erupting in her eyes. She had never imagined Jonathan could be this ruthless.

Behind them, the three wolves snarled and launched themselves forward with flashing eyes.

Valerie raised the club to block them, but Summer suddenly summoned an unexpected surge of strength, shoving Valerie to the side.

The next instant, the lead wolf clamped its razor-sharp teeth onto Summer’s left arm.

“Ah!”

Summer’s left arm was brutally severed, and blood sprayed violently across the concrete. She convulsed in agony before crashing heavily to the ground.

Valerie’s face turned completely bloodless.

“Summer!”

She threw herself over her friend, holding her tight as tears poured down. “Why were you so stupid! Summer!”

As the wolves closed in to tear at the severed limb, Valerie went completely feral, swinging her club like a maniac until she managed to snatch the arm back from their jaws.

Just as despair threatened to consume her, the gates finally swung open.

She dragged Summer out, screaming, “Don’t be scared, Summer. We’re going to the hospital right now. I won’t let you die!”

After nine grueling hours in the operating room, Summer’s life was saved, but her arm could not be reattached.

Valerie sat motionless in the hospital corridor.

As dawn broke the next morning, her phone buzzed four times in succession.

The first text was from her attorney handling the divorce papers, informing her the divorce decree had been finalized.

The second message was from him: [I’m waiting for you at City Hall.]

The third was from Jonathan: [Valerie, come home early tonight. I have a surprise for you.]

The fourth came from an unknown number: [Mrs. James, Jonathan deleted the video you sent without even watching it. Want to guess why? Because he trusts me, not you!]

[Oh, and I heard your best friend lost an arm. How tragic!]

Valerie’s fingers tightened around the device until her joints cracked.

She replied to none of them, rising silently to leave the hospital.

Outside City Hall, she took the final divorce papers from her lawyer, then walked straight back inside with the waiting man to file for a new marriage certificate.

Throughout the entire process, Valerie’s face remained entirely expressionless.

The man beside her let out a low chuckle. “You don’t look particularly thrilled to be marrying me. Regretting it?”

Under the bright morning sun, Valerie lifted her head.

Staring into the man’s eyes, she said deliberately, “Gavin Garrison, help me get revenge. I want Jonathan and Lily to pay for this in blood.”
