On My Wedding Day, I Married Someone Else Chapter 07

I let out a quiet laugh. My gaze settled on the man beside me. The gentle profile as he poured champagne.

“I know. Of course I know.”

Derek reeled. Lightning strike. He staggered and caught himself against the cold wall.

“What do you mean you know? You knew and you still went back? Savannah, are you doing this on purpose? Today is our wedding day. You can be mad, but not this. How the hell am I supposed to face everyone?”

“When you sold our house. Did you ask me? Even one text. One phone call.”

My question came out calm. Steady. Derek’s throat closed.

“That place… the old house wasn’t appreciating. Foundation had issues. I was trying to upgrade you to something better, newer. A surprise. Why can’t you see I was doing this for us? For our future?”

I smiled. Watched the man beside me carefully wiping a champagne flute.

“Your thoughtfulness. I’ll never understand it in this lifetime. Too complicated, Derek.”

“I’m starting my new life now. Goodbye. Be happy.”

I hung up. Powered down the phone. Removed the old SIM card and dropped it in the car’s trash bin.

Derek called back. The cold, dead tone of a disconnected number.

He felt it. A fist around his heart. Squeezing. Crushing. He couldn’t breathe.

Derek finally understood. This time, Savannah had truly, completely, permanently let him go.

Not anger. Not a tantrum. A severance. Final as death.
