This Time, I Refuse to Be His Luna Chapter 10

This Time, I Refuse to Be His Luna Chapter 10

Ethan was taken to the private clinic in town.

The silver burns were deep.

When the healer cleaned the wound, he gritted his teeth and did not make a sound.

I stood outside the hospital room and did not go in.

Then the legal team delivered several documents.

The first was the Pack’s formal compensation agreement for me.

The second was the investigation and closure order for the center.

The last was Ethan’s signed promise.

As Alpha, he would no longer interfere in my life.

He would not force me to return to the Blackthorn estate.

He would not use his scent, power, wealth, or Pack law to force me to accept him.

If I ever needed anything, I would contact him only through lawyers.

I took the documents into the room.

Ethan was leaning against the headboard.

He looked weak, and blood had seeped through the gauze on his back.

“Olivia.”

—

I placed the documents beside his bed.

“I’ve read them. I’ll give them to my lawyer.”

His throat moved.

“Can you forgive me now?”

I looked at him.

The hospital room was very quiet.

Because of his injury, his cedar scent had become faint.

“Ethan, stop forcing me. I really don’t know how to love you anymore.”

He lowered his head.

“We can’t go back, can we?”

“Mm.”

My answer was soft, but I did not hesitate.

He closed his eyes.

After a long time, he took the moonstone necklace from inside his coat.

“This is yours.”

I did not take it.

“Keep it. It belongs to the Blackthorn Pack. It doesn’t belong to me.”

His hand froze in midair.

—

I turned and walked to the door.

Behind me, he said hoarsely, “I won’t chase you anymore. I won’t disturb you again. The compensation, the center, their punishments, I’ll handle all of it. From now on, if you need anything, contact my lawyer. If you need nothing, I won’t appear again.”

I paused.

I did not turn around.

“Take care.”

When I walked out of the clinic, the sky had already cleared.

I returned to the cabin and watered the newly planted moonroot in the backyard.

My parents’ old herbal notes lay open on the table.

Tomorrow, the older townsfolk would come by for pain-relief salve.

The day after tomorrow, I had to go up the mountain to gather silverleaf.

At last, I could live by my own plans.

Later, I heard that the Blackthorn Pack’s center was thoroughly investigated by the Council.

Many people who had been locked inside were released.

Logan, Mason, and Caleb never returned to their former positions.

Sophia was exiled for attacking with silver, and she was banned forever from entering any Pack territory in the Pacific Northwest.

—

Ethan was still the Alpha of Blackthorn.

But he never came to this small town again.

Sometimes, when the wind blew over from the other side of the mountain, I would think of the skinny little boy under the bridge when we were seven.

I would also think of the vows he made in front of my parents’ graves when we were eighteen.

But remembering does not mean turning back.

He and I were over.

This time, it was truly over.
