“What kind of ridiculous agreement is this? Why should my daughter endure the endless pranks of his mistress? This is outrageous!”

I lowered my head silently.

The only reason I had agreed in the first place was because I had hoped Adwan would eventually realize how my repeated disappointments were piling up, and that he would end things with Megan quickly.

After all, according to him, he only treated Megan as a sister and never had improper thoughts about her.

On the surface, Megan had always been kind to me.

She even used to joke, “If Adwan ever cheats on you, I’ll be the first to bash his head in!”

“A man who doesn’t cherish a beautiful woman like you must be senile already.”

Naively, I had believed she was on my side and often invited her to our home.

But what I got in return were prank after prank—bones, rats, snakes, even tampered gas valves that caused sudden flames.

When I cried and complained to Adwan, he only said I was being unreasonable.

“Megan’s just a child. Why argue with her? Everyone thinks she’s adorable, but you’re the only one making a fuss.”

I clenched my fists tightly.

At the restaurant, my father’s sworn brother, Hollis Anderson, whom I had always called Uncle Hollis, shielded me from drink after drink.

Hollis glanced at me and curved his lips into a smirk.

“Young girl like her shouldn’t drink too much.”

He still had that infuriating tone.

My temper flared. Before he could stop me, I downed an entire glass of whiskey in one go.

Feeling dizzy, I excused myself and headed to the restroom.

I splashed cold water on my face, hoping to clear my head. But when I looked up, I froze.

“Adwan?”

He stormed forward, seized my wrist, and pinned me against the wall.

“So you still remember I exist? Why did you leave without a word? Why couldn’t you wait for me to explain before making your decision?”

“Do you enjoy making me search the entire world for you?”

His bloodshot eyes jolted me into sobriety.

I couldn’t understand why he was still coming after me. It was his beloved childhood sweetheart who had caused all the pranks. The agreement had been his idea.

So I asked the only question that mattered.

“I already stepped aside for you and Megan. Why are you still chasing me? The hundred chances have been used up. I deserve my freedom.”

Hearing that, Adwan’s face twisted with despair. A bitter laugh escaped him.

“Freedom? Was being with me so unbearable for you? That damned agreement was just a game! Why did you have to take it seriously?”

I let out a laugh, cold and sharp, locking eyes with him.

“Adwan, don’t tell me you can’t handle losing.”

Back then, it was he who had provoked me time and time again, using that agreement to force me into tolerating Megan.
