Barren, Betrayed, But Backed By A Secret Billionaire Dad: I’ll Make Them Pay In Blood Chapter 05

Jelena wanted a divorce!

That single line on the screen left Adwan frozen in place.

He zoomed in again and again, as if only by doing so he could confirm that the message was real.

Then came a series of photos from a notebook.

Each page carefully recorded every one of Megan’s cruel pranks, not a single one missing.

Adwan counted and recounted, and it truly had reached one hundred.

In a panic, he typed: [No, Jelena, I didn’t realize it was already one hundred times. Can we talk this through? Please?]

But when he hit send, the only response he got was the notification that he had been blocked.

Jelena had blocked him.

And then, among the photos of the notebook, he finally saw one of a divorce agreement.

On it, Jelena’s signature stood out in bold strokes, those two words exploding before his eyes and stabbing at them like knives.

It was the very agreement he had once given Jelena, when they had made a deal: he would only allow Megan one hundred pranks.

Once those hundred were used up, Jelena would be free to sign the agreement and leave him.

—

But he had never imagined the one hundred chances would run out so quickly.

Adwan’s fingers swiped quickly as his eyes landed on the final record: [Megan framed me with another prank, and Adwan forced me to apologize.]

The man felt he had found a loophole.

It was Jelena who had supposedly hired people to threaten Megan—how could that count as one of the chances?

At that moment, the conversation of the men down the hall reached his ears.

“Miss Megan sure was generous. We only acted out a little scene for her, and she gave each of us a thousand.”

“Yeah, but that woman Jelena is too pitiful. She didn’t even realize it was fake, yet her husband scolded her like crazy.”

“Ha, you feel sorry for her? She deserved it for always going after Megan.”

…

Adwan stepped forward, his presence instantly chilling the air.

The group turned slowly, meeting his icy gaze.

“M–Mr. Jones, we—”

Adwan ground his teeth and barked,

“So Megan hired you to put on a show? It wasn’t Jelena? Speak, damn

—

it!”

The leader of the group trembled, stepping forward and stammering,

“Please, don’t tell Megan we said this. It was her who hired us, that’s the truth. We don’t know anything else!”

With that, he dragged his men and bolted from the hospital like their lives depended on it.

Adwan stood rooted to the spot, his mind blank.

He had really wronged Jelena.

He had truly burned through her very last chance.

Looking down at his phone and seeing the “blocked” message again, his heart gave a violent jolt, as though his whole world had started spinning.

Then Megan’s sweet voice rang out behind him.

“Adwan, what are you doing, just standing there? Weren’t you going to buy me ice cream?”

“Hurry up, go—”

But before she could finish, she finally noticed the terrifying look on his face, and her smile slowly faded.

“What’s wrong?”

Adwan’s furious gaze landed on her, sharp as ice.

“Tell me. Did you hire those people? They weren’t Jelena’s?”

—

Megan froze for a few seconds, then proudly nodded.

“Of course. So what? It was just a prank.”

The words had barely left her mouth before a harsh slap landed squarely on her face.

Megan was stunned.

Hadn’t she played countless pranks over the years? Hadn’t Adwan always forgiven her?

Why this time, of all times, did he strike her?
