Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 03

Selling Out My Godfather Husband Chapter 03

When my son saw the pain on my face, a trace of guilt flickered across his expression.

Even so, he still stood there with his chin stubbornly lifted.

Luca hurried over to help me up. “Matteo! Why would you shove your mom?”

His gaze landed on my lower stomach, and a hint of pity crossed his face.

“Isabella, if it bothers you that much, I’ll ask someone else to play the groom opposite Gianna.”

I pulled my hand free from his and stood up on my own.

“It doesn’t bother me.”

I opened the calculator on my phone.

“Besides the wedding and the gown, we’ll also need to add the cost of your wedding night with her.”

Before I could finish calculating, Luca slapped my phone out of my hand.

“Isabella, are you insane? Matteo is right here!”

“There is nothing between Gianna and me. I honestly don’t understand how you became like this.”

I looked up at him.

“She takes everything that belongs to me, and I can’t win against her. Is it wrong for me to ask for some money as compensation?”

Luca had no answer.

His chest rose and fell sharply, as if I had pushed him to the edge of his temper.

“I’m not wasting my breath arguing with you.”

He took out his phone and jabbed at the screen as if he were taking out his anger on it.

The next second, a payment notification popped up on my phone.

“I was wrong about you.”

Luca pulled the two of them away and slammed the door behind him so hard the whole house seemed to shake.

I stared at the string of zeros on my screen and fought back the tears gathering in my eyes.

When Luca and I first got together, he had just gone bankrupt and had nothing. The Vitale family was being hounded by creditors, and he could not even afford to take me out for a decent dinner.

I paid for everything. The apartment, the furniture, the daily expenses—all of it came from the little money I had left after selling off my family assets.

Back then, he often felt guilty toward me. More than once, I found him sitting alone on the balcony in the middle of the night, smoking with red-rimmed eyes. When I caught him, he choked out that I was suffering because of him and swore that once he had money, he would repay me a hundredfold, a thousandfold.

My heart ached for him. I held him tightly and told him I did not need repayment. I only wanted him.

But after he rose again, every single thing he gave me as compensation was taken by Gianna.

Now, I had only fought for a little money for myself, and in the end, all I got from him was, “I was wrong about you.”

I forced myself to take deep breaths. My heart hurt so badly that I tried to distract myself by scrolling through my phone.

But Instagram was full of Gianna’s posts.

Luca had taken her to discuss the wedding plans.

The venue renderings she posted were the exact version I had once refined detail by detail according to my own taste.

I never imagined that the wedding I had looked forward to for so long would end up becoming a wedding for my husband and another woman.

I gripped my phone and was about to block her.

Then my gaze accidentally landed on her wrist.

The moment I saw what she was wearing, I could not hold myself back anymore. I followed her location and stormed straight over.

“Give me back my bracelet!”

I lunged toward Gianna, desperate to take it back.

It was the only thing my mother had left me. I had treasured it carefully for years.

I barely even dared to handle it more than necessary.

I never imagined Gianna would take that from me too.

Before I could get close, my son suddenly shoved me to the ground.

He spread his arms and planted himself firmly in front of Gianna.

“I gave it to Gianna!”

“Tell me how much it costs. I’ll transfer the money to you right now!”

My son grabbed the checkbook on the table, tore out a check, and threw it in front of me. “How much? I’ll make Dad write you a check.”

I was so shocked that I could not even feel the pain anymore. Looking at the son in front of me, I felt my hands and feet go numb.

“Matteo, what did you just say?”

My son repeated impatiently, “I asked you how much it costs. Don’t you sell anything as long as someone pays you?”

“Just name your price.”
