Alpha Alistair walked slowly to my side, gently patting my shoulder in a soothing gesture.

“Sera, didn’t you say you were just going out to buy a few things? What took you so long? Did some fool give you trouble?”

Before he finished, Elias, radiating his own powerful aura, strode in and stood before my relatives. His voice was calm but held a clear warning. “Everyone, Sera is my sister. If there’s any issue between you, you can deal with me.”

Those few words, carrying the unique pressure of an Alpha heir, silenced the entire room.

Just then, my mate Damian emerged from the back of the crowd, holding the hand of our lively cub, Leo.

When Leo saw me, he immediately let go of his father’s hand and rushed into my arms, asking in his sweet, childish voice, “Mommy, what happened to your face?”

At his words, Marcus and Logan stared in disbelief.

Marcus was the first to react, his eyes fixed on me. “Lily, when did you mate with another wolf? And you didn’t even tell us! Do you have any respect for me as your Alpha?”

I ignored Marcus’s angry outburst and turned my head away.

It was only then that everyone noticed the red handprint on the cheek I had been hiding with my hair.

It was the mark from the slap my uncle had given me in his rage.

I stroked Leo’s soft hair, not wanting him to see this.

But my adoptive father was instantly furious. In the Stormcrest Pack, I had been cherished. My family treated me so well, correcting many of the bad habits I had developed from the abuse in the Crescent Moon Pack.

Alistair couldn’t accept that the daughter he treasured had been treated this way after being back for only two days.

“Who did it?” Alistair’s voice was quiet, but the fire in it made the temperature in the hall drop.
