Boyfriend says I’m too much—Someone else’s turn Chapter 08

One day, my advisor asked me to come to his office.

Adrian Blake—Atheson University’s youngest professor of criminal psychology. Countless students wanted to study under him, and no one would believe anyone could be foolish enough to turn down the chance to go abroad with him.

I was that fool.

“Roselyn, if you have any concerns, you can tell me. I’ll do what I can to help.”

“All your evaluations are A+. You should know how highly I think of you. My team is about to leave for the UK. The paperwork can still be arranged. This is your last chance.”

The man in the slate-blue shirt leaned casually against his desk.

After a pause, he frowned slightly.

“Matthew told me you’re hesitating because of a relationship?”

Of course he did. Matthew really had no filter.

But clearly, a man who specialized in analyzing murderers wasn’t exactly an expert when it came to understanding relationship drama.

I was about to explain when the office door burst open.

“I told you how many times not to rush in like that?”

Adrian frowned at Matthew, who stood there slightly out of breath.

“Bro—no, Professor—Roselyn, you need to see this post.”

“It’s already blowing up. It’s spreading around campus…”

There was a forum at school where students posted whenever they had a dispute or wanted to throw shade at each other from a distance.

Basically, it was prime gossip territory. But I never thought I’d see my own name up there one day.

[My fountain pen went missing yesterday afternoon in the Medlock Lab.]

[It was originally given to my grandfather by a renowned physicist, and later passed down to me. It’s both extremely valuable and personally meaningful.]

[The building’s surveillance cameras were down, but access records show that during the time it was lost, aside from me and Asher, the only other person who entered was a student from another department.]

[So, Roselyn Gordon, a sophomore in the psychology program under the School of Social Sciences, please return my pen as soon as possible.]

There was even my student ID photo attached to the post.

Thousands of students browsed that forum every day. A post like this, with a name attached, spread across campus almost instantly.

[I know her—she’s in our department.]

[Really? What’s she like?]

[Smart, pretty outgoing… didn’t expect this.]

[Yeah, why would a top student steal something?]

[Come on, you don’t know? She’s the type with no shame.]

[I heard she got with that physics department heartthrob by chasing him relentlessly.]

[Hey, maybe we shouldn’t jump to conclusions…]

[Talking about people behind their backs isn’t great either…]

[Well, if she didn’t do something like that, there wouldn’t be rumors, right?]

For a moment, I felt the anger rush straight to my head.

That stupid pen—I had never even seen it.

The post wasn’t anonymous.

It was from Scarlett Hayes.

I didn’t know if she genuinely believed I stole it, or if she was deliberately trying to smear me.

The next second, my phone rang.

It was the student affairs office.

“Roselyn, come to the office right now.”

I took a slow breath, forcing myself to calm down.

“Okay. I’ll be there.”

“Before that… I have something else to take care of.”

I hung up, then raised my hand and dialed 911.
