Boyfriend says I’m too much—Someone else’s turn Chapter 01

By the third year of being hopelessly devoted to my boyfriend, I finally decided I was done.

I deleted him from my contacts, moved out, and came up with a random excuse to break things off.

“Our couple necklace fell into the campus lake. A tarot reader said it’s a bad omen.”

I never expected to see him again.

And I definitely didn’t think he’d believe such a ridiculous excuse.

Later, I heard something.

The top student in the physics department at Atheson University—the campus heartthrob—had gone crazy.

He jumped into the lake. Just to find a missing necklace.

Class ended.

I shut my tablet, picked up my phone, closed my eyes, and gave myself three seconds of silent prayer.

Then I opened them.

Right. Still nothing. No reply from Asher Owen.

[Asher, I’m heading out. Don’t forget your keys.]

[When are you done with class?]

[There’s a new bakery off campus that looks amazing. Want to go after class?]

Our chat history was a one-sided conversation—mine.

I kept telling myself he was just busy.

But earlier in my psychology class, the professor said something that stuck, “If someone really matters to you, you’ll text them back—even if you’re halfway through a shower.”

After hesitating for a long time, I still went to wait for him outside the physics building.

I’d learned my lesson—once I showed up at his classroom, and he got annoyed. So now, I stayed at the entrance.

By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, I finally spotted him.

Tall. Lean. Impossible to miss in a crowd.

His backpack hung over one shoulder. A girl walked beside him, holding papers as they discussed something.

There were always girls around Asher.

“Asher!”

I ran up to them, clasping my hands behind my back, smiling at the girl.

She looked a little uncomfortable under my gaze and instinctively stepped behind him.

But Asher’s eyes settled on me.

After a pause, he spoke, voice calm and distant.

“What is it?”

There were so many things I wanted to ask.

Why didn’t you reply to my messages?

Why are you always so close to other girls?

Why do you keep forgetting what you promised me?

But when the words reached my lips, they changed.

“The sun’s setting… Aren’t you cold, Asher?”
