The Subtitles Told Me I’d Be Thrown Into the Sea—So I Stopped Loving Him Chapter 02

I was the one who forced Jason to move in and wait on me. Now that he was about to turn the tables, of course I wasn’t going to make him stay.

By the time I left, Jason had already gone to work. There was breakfast on the table. I ate a few bites, and called a courier to deliver all of Jason’s belongings to his office.

[What’s she doing? How dare she touch Jason’s things?]

[Perfect timing. The luggage will arrive right as the real heroine shows up. Then her sunny personality will warm his heart. Is Abby actually playing right into this?]

[The real heroine is so gentle and sweet. They even share a kiss on their very first meeting!]

Seeing that, I clenched my fists. The thought of Jason kissing some other woman made me furious.

Even if things were falling apart between us, I’d spent good money on him!

The more I thought about it, the angrier I got. I changed clothes and headed straight to Jason’s company.

When I got to the lobby, I called him. No answer.

I was fuming.

More subtitles popped up.

[Abby doesn’t know Jason never answers her calls. He mutes his phone the second her number pops up.]

[He’s enjoying desserts with the heroine right now. What a sweet couple!]

[Heroine is so thoughtful! She knew he didn’t eat breakfast, so she brought him some.]

I frowned. He didn’t eat breakfast? He made a whole table of breakfast this morning. How could he not have eaten?

I put my phone away and walked in. The receptionist froze when she saw me, then quickly ushered me inside.

When I got to his office door, I was about to go in when I saw through the gap—Jason was hugging a girl.

Subtitles flooded my vision. I didn’t need to read them. I knew they were shipping.

I clenched my fists. It took me a long moment to react. Then I turned and left.

Downstairs, I couldn’t hold it in anymore. Tears streamed down my face.

“Jason, you jerk!”

My chest ached. I took a cab straight home and cleaned the whole house thoroughly. I phoned a realtor to put the house up for sale.

[What is she doing now? Playing hard to get again? She knows Jason decorated this place himself, and she doesn’t even care?]

[Fine by me. When she goes back and goes bankrupt, she’ll have nothing. Living on the streets, can’t even afford a hotel.]

My hand froze on the phone. Living out on the streets, unable to afford even a cheap hotel. Ending up homeless and miserable?

Never mind. I wasn’t going to sell it after all.

Then my phone rang. It was Jason.

I answered. His voice was sharp with anger. “Abby. You’re selling the house? And what’s with all my belongings being sent to my office?”

I took a deep breath. “I’ve thought it over. We weren’t right for each other, Jason. I helped you get back on your feet. All I ask in return is that you leave my family’s company alone.”

“We’re done here. I hope you and your little girlfriend are very happy.”

I hung up, blocked him, grabbed my bag, and went home.

I wasn’t going to sell the house. Still, I couldn’t take any risks where Jason was concerned.

“Mom! Dad! I’m back!”

The second I walked in, I saw my parents looking worried, with a bunch of papers scattered in front of them.

“Abby! Come here, let me take a good look. You’ve lost weight. I’ll tell Ms. Woody to make your favorite dishes tonight!”

“Thanks, Mom.”

I leaned into my mom’s arms and glanced at the papers on the table. My dad quickly gathered them up. “Abby, stay a few days, keep your mom company.”

He hurried off to the study.

I frowned. That paper I saw—it said Original Technology. That’s Jason’s company.
